Government Research Names Stormdry as Insulation Protection Measure

As part of the UK government's effort to reduce net carbon emissions to zero by 2050, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has been researching ways to protect retrofit insulation from the effects of moisture.
One report in particular; 'Research into Resistance to Moisture in Buildings: Using numerical simulation to assess moisture risk in retrofit constructions', which was published in July 2019, used sophisticated computer simulations to assess how different wall build-ups might reduce the risk of interstitial condensation on internal wall insulation.
Several different wall build-ups were modelled specifically with Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream used as an exterior coating. As the report states, this is because Stormdry is, ". . . by far the main product used in the industry." It is also mentioned that it is the only product in the brick-cream category to undergo testing.

Commenting on the results of the simulations, the report states, "These results show that the upgraded build-up[s] with [Stormdry] brick cream . . . are made safer in terms of hygrothermal performance, compared to the build-up without [Stormdry] brick cream."
