Highly exposed tower block shielded from the elements by Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream.
Stormdry Protects Cavity Wall Insulation from Rain Penetration
Residents of this 1950s tower block in Essex were suffering with damp patches and spoilage of the interior decor in their flats. Overly-porous brickwork and degraded pointing had led moisture to penetrate from the exterior leaf of the cavity wall through to the interior, via previously installed cavity wall insulation.
The owners of the building called in Anglia Decor to carry out repairs and to stop the penetrating damp. After a full repointing of the building was carried out by a subcontractor, Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream was chosen to weatherproof the exterior facade.
Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream is a breathable, colourless and long-lasting masonry waterproofer. The unique cream formula of Stormdry meant Anglia Decor applied it in a single-coat, saving money on scaffolding. Due to its breathability, Stormdry also allowed the damp cavity wall insulation to dry out.
Just a short few weeks after the completion of application, the building's residents were already reporting that damp patches were drying out. “We were very happy to see Stormdry Masonry Protection Cream on the specification. We like the 25 year lifespan and we always see it get positive reviews.” says Steve Massey, Managing Director at Anglia Decor.
