APG SEPTEMBER MEETING
September meeting is Thursday the 19th from 7-8:30 pm in the Community Room of the Lyndon House. The guest speaker will be Wingate Downs.
Wingate will be presenting a topic that will be usefull for all of us, "Making Better Candid Photos."
Wingate Downs is a professional photographer working in the Northeast Georgia area. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia College of Mass Communication, and worked for 20 years as a news photographer, directing the photo efforts for the two Athens daily papers (ABH, ADN), and Athens Magazine, while stringing for UPI and AP (his press work earned him over 30 state and national awards).
In 1996 he built a studio and went into freelance photography. He has been busy with magazine, wedding, corporate, and portrait photography ever since.
Wingate says, "I intend to offer a few strategies on how you can quickly improve the quality of images taken, whether they be travel images, portraits or photos at social gatherings…."
One of our members who's familiar with Wingate's work described him as "The King of Candids." You can check out Wingate's website at www.wingatedowns.com and see the excellent images he produces.
Calls for Entry.
A whole list of Calls for Entry have been posted to the Facebook Page and the APG website. Check them out. Get seen. Get recognized.
Creative Challenge is Black & White. Show us 3-4 of your best B&W images and maybe one before and after. If you're participating, you can bring your photos on a flash drive, or you can email them before noon the day of the meeting to email@example.com. If you're bringing them to the meeting, please try to arrive by 6:45 so that we can get everybody's pictures loaded and start the meeting on time. We are using a new projector so these images are looking great.
