Plan Ahead for PARK(ing) Day 2016

Join residents and businesses around the world to transform ordinary metered parking spots into public parks for PARK(ing) Day on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 9am to 4pm.

A worldwide event, PARK(ing) Day encourages passerby’s to re-think how we use urban space. The Distict of Columbia has been re-imagining parking spaces for years. In 2015 alone, more than 30 'pop-up' parks were created. This year, DDOT Director Leif Dormsjo says the city intends to build on that momentum, engaging DC employers to help promote a healthier, more vibrant DC.

Consider These PARK(ing) Day Perks

Engage your employees, and help DC become the greenest, healthiest, and most livable city in the nation by registering your company for a space today. We'll sweeten the deal: Share pictures of your re-imagined Park(ing) Day spot with @goDCgo on Facebook or Twitter for a chance to win a complimentary Capital Bikeshare 101 Seminar + 100 free 24-hour Capital Bikeshare passes!
The “pop-up” parks are limited to metered parking locations without time-of-day restrictions and will be located in the middle of blocks as a safety precaution. Participants are responsible for permitting fees, cost of materials and any other fees associated with the temporary parks.
This is a great way to encourage employees to take back their parking spaces and take alternative forms of transportation to work.
