JOIN US IN BUILDING SOLIDARITY WITH MUSLIM COMMUNITIES
Our Muslim & AMEMSA students have reported feeling unsafe since the attack in New Zealand, so our OUSD Sanctuary Schools Taskforce is coming together with our community partners in the AMEMSA community to help create safe/solidarity space for our students and families, share tools and resources with educators, and stand together as a school district and community against Islamophobia, bullying, and racist violence.
Please spread the word! To learn more and RSVP to join us on Wednesday evening, April 24th at Bret Harte Middle School go here!
ATTENTION 8TH GRADERS: YEARBOOK INFO
The yearbook team has decided that we would like to have an 8th grade baby photo guessing game in the yearbook. If you want your baby picture in the yearbook then you may email them to our superlative team co-leader, Maya Lambert-Yank
who is in charge of the baby picture activity. We are encouraging all 8th graders to participate.
Baby pictures will be provided in a specific section of the yearbook, where people can guess which children are the younger versions of their peers. Answers will be provided further into the yearbook.
8TH GRADE OVERNIGHT TRIP, 5/23 – 24
The 8th grade class will be camping at Anthony Chabot Regional Park, 9999 Redwood Rd. Castro Valley on May 23rd. More details will be coming.
We are looking for parents and caregivers who are available to give students a ride either to or from or both ways to the park. And we are looking for parents to camp overnight to chaperone the trip. Ideally, you can come and chaperone the whole trip. But if you can only do a part of it, we'll take that too. The park is about a 45 minute drive from Claremont.
We hope you can help! Sign up here.
8TH GRADE DANCE ON 5/29
The dinner dance will be on Wednesday, 5/29, 5:30-9pm in the gym. More info to come regarding the theme. Parent volunteers are needed to help with decorations, set up, clean up, and food.
Contact Ms. Anderson if you are able to help.
8TH GRADE PROMOTION ON 5/30
The 8th grade promotion will be held at Oakland Tech on 5/30 from 3pm-5pm. More info to come.
Heads up that we have 150 8th grade students so each student will receive 5 tickets (= 750 tickets). Everyone will need a ticket, including small children as we have to have an accurate count of people in the building.
Additional tickets can be requested through email to the office but is not guaranteed. Please note that 750 is the max we can have so there is a strong possibility additional tickets will NOT be given.
GO FOR THE GOAL! CROWDFUND ALMOST REACHES $10,000!
Wow our great Claremont community! The sports crowdfunding campaign has almost reached $10,000. Please help us get to $10,000 and beyond by donating today. (If you want to write a check, please drop it off at Claremont's office). And please share the GoFundMe campaign with your friends, co-workers, family and neighbors. The PTA spends about $15,000 on after school sports, including baseball and track and field in the spring.
Claremont Girls Soccer has been lucky to have Stephanie Barnes as its coach. A Claremont graduate, Stephanie started the girls soccer program several years ago and for the past two years, she has coached with her daughter Makayla, a 10th grader and former Claremont Knight.
I love coaching. I get to teach soccer and hopefully a love for the game. Coaching keeps me motivated in life and helps me stay healthy. I've stayed on as the Claremont girls soccer coach because of the history and love I have for the school. I have made some amazing friends while being the girls soccer coach too. I coach because it's something that has brought my daughter and myself closer.
Thank you Stephanie and Makayla and thank you to all the coaches, teachers, administrators and parents who support middle school sports.
