2015 Annual Report
in 60 Seconds

December 31, 2015
Looking back at a great year...
Thanks so much for being a part of our adventures last summer. We hope you'll take a few seconds and read over some of our "highlights."

This is our first-ever MTA Annual Report...by the numbers!
1 - One night spent on an overnight train.
We spent plenty of nights in hotels this summer, but only one night on an overnight sleeper on the Europe by Eurail adventure. We were heading from Venice, Italy to Venice, Austria. This photo is of Nick enjoying his breakfast in bed aboard the train.
2 - Two rivers rafted.
We rafted two rivers this summer - the Nantahala on the North Carolina Mountains trip and the Watauga on the Tennessee Mountains trip.
3 - Three trips offered.
2015 was the first time in about 15 years that we've had three trips. We started with 18 days by train in Europe, followed this with seven days in the North Carolina mountains, and capped off our season with five days in the Tennessee mountains. This photo was from a drive-in movie in Elizabethan, TN and was the first time at a drive-in for just about everyone.
4 - Four pounds of candy consumed.
Well, actually I have no idea how much candy was consumed, but by the look of this piece...it could be four pounds right there. Actually, this kid was only posing with this sucker...he didn't actually buy it. We did make a hefty dent in the stock at The Lollipop Shop in Jonesborough, TN.
5 - Five miles hiked in the Smokies.
Actually, I haven't a clue. It seemed like fifty! It seemed like we hiked uphill both ways...but it was fun.
6 - Six European countries where we spent nights.
We stayed in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Germany.
What an  unforgettable experience - actually all of our trips are! This photo was taken on a hike in the Austrian Alps above Innsbruck.
7 - Seven roller coasters experienced at Dollywood Theme Park.
And I didn't do a one of them, but the boys experienced just about all of the coasters at Dollywood and then some.
8 - Elk spotted in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Yes, of course I know there are only four in this photo....but believe me - we saw eight or more on our trip to the Smokies this summer.
9 - Nine museums explored (at least).
We visited kid-oriented museums across Europe and on our domestic trips as well. This photo was taken at the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany.
10 - Ten modes of transportation (plus).
This past summer we traveled by jet, train, horse, scooter, zip-line, foot, gondola, bus, ski lift, raft...and more. This photo was taken in Switzerland on a day where the boys traveled by cable car to the top of a mountain and then hiked, zipped, and scootered down to the bottom. It was quite an experience.
And some honorable mentions...

Our Annual Report could go on and on but I promised you could read it in 60 seconds. But I will close with a few more notable points...

We had six German boys joining us on trips this summer. Another boy traveled from Uganda, Africa to go on a trip and one came from Montana. We had about a dozen boys attending for their third, fourth, or fifth trip...and we had another dozen boys who waited too long to sign up.

It was a great 2015. Thanks for being a part.

Happy New Year!

Mark
