WHAT’S ON THE EPOS WEBSITE? VISIT THE NEW SECTIONS DEDICATED TO THE TCS COMMUNITIES
The EPOS website has been greatly enhanced by implementing new sections dedicated to the 10 thematic communities involved in the project. The  TCS web pages have been finalized and published the the first week of May 2017.
These sections are as 10 TCS dedicated web sites: actual web sites in the website, allowing each community to communicate their specific services, data and information, with personalised style, independent content input, smoothly integrated in the overall website concept.
The EPOS webmaster (PMO-INGV team and TRUST-IT staff) has created the structure and populated the pages with the material provided by each TCS. The EPOS webmaster has, furthermore, organized on April the 4th, 2017 an online webinar for all EPOS TCS communication contacts persons (and proxies) to learn how to use the EPOS Drupal platform website; they will be the responsible of the updating of the contents.

Visit the EPOS website to be updated on the detailed scientific content specific to each of the community and their goals, achievements and scheduled events.

IS-EPOS Platform Workshop on May 12, 2017 in Potsdam, Germany
Thematic Core Service Anthropogenic Hazarads announces its workshop on "IS-EPOS Platform" to be conducted on May 12, 2017 in Potsdam, Germany.

During the workshop the TCS will present the e-research platform that allows to perform the online research on triggered and induced seismicity.

The workshop highlights the practical benefits of integrated EPOS e-research environment.
It unveils to the participants the educational elements of the developed research platform, and provides information on the available scientific data and resources related to anthropogenic seismicity. During the workshop, all participants will have an opportunity to learn how to use the available data and data services to study the anthropogenic hazards related to triggered and induced seismicity available at IS-EPOS platform.
The workshop targets primarily at Master and PhD students, as well as anyone interested in learning how to perform the e-research studies using the developed IS-EPOS Platform.

The EPOS IP Harmonization Meeting in Milan, 16 - 18 May 2017
The EPOS IP Harmonization Meeting will be held at INGV in the city of Milan (Italy) from the 16th until the 18th of May 2017.
The aim of this meeting is the harmonization of metadata and parameters included in the EPOS Thematic Core Services. This will be done for those Data, Data products, Software and Services (DDSS) that involve seismology and are common to other TCSs.

Next EPOS IT hackathons: May 9th to 11th in Bergen and September 11th to 15th in Rome, save the dates!
The EPOS IT team has scheduled two important events in the following months trying to maximise interaction and synergies between EPOS and other initiatives such as ENVRIplus and VRE4EIC. The IT hackathons will be: the EPOS IT Team Meeting in Bergen on May 2017 and the EPOS-ENVRIplus-VRE4EIC IT meeting in Rome on September 2017.
Visit the EPOS website to have additional information about the EPOS IT Team Meeting in Bergen and about the second IT hackathon.

SERA project kick-off meeting in Zurich, May 31st - June 1st 2017
SERA – Seismology and Earthquake Engineering Research Infrastructure Alliance for Europe – is a European project starting in spring 2017 for a duration of three years. SERA was granted by the EC-H2020 program for Integrating Activities for Advanced Communities (INFRAIA-01-2016-2017), and it builds on precursor projects like NERA, SHARE, NERIES, SERIES. The project will allow to develop Networking Activities, Joint Research Activities, Virtual Access and Trans-national Access to earthquake engineering facilities.
SERA and EPOS-IP will run in parallel, giving SERA the capacity to develop building blocks for EPOS in the areas of seismology, anthropogenic hazards and seismic engineering. The SERA kick-off meeting will gather the 31 participating institutions at ETH-Zurich (leading partner) on May 31st and June 1st 2017.

The  validation process is aimed at identifying the Data, Data-products, Services and Software (DDSS) elements that will enter into the pre-operation and testing phase in fall 2018. Validation involves technical, legal, governance and financial eligibility. The EPOS PDB, SCB and IPC have already discussed the methodology and the criteria.
The validation process will last one year: October 2017 – September 2018. Three validation checkpoints have been proposed: October 2017 (launching validation), February 2018 (intermediate validation) and September 2018 (closing validation).
