On September 8th of 2020, and all along the journey since, the bonds of family, friends and community have sheltered us. Through the seasons, we’ve connected to reflect and to look to the future.
El 8 de septiembre de 2020, y durante todo el viaje desde entonces, los lazos de familia, amigos y comunidad nos han protegido. A través de las estaciones, nos hemos conectado para reflexionar y mirar hacia el futuro.
In the summer, we celebrated the fruits of our labor and that which is emerging from the soils we’ve been tending as we and partners closed the purchase of Talent Mobile Estates to be the first-ever Resident Owned Community of Southern Oregon.
And now, as autumn approaches, we’re reflecting on the events of two years ago, and honoring both the grief and the joy of where we are today.
En el verano, celebramos los frutos de nuestro trabajo y lo que está emergiendo de los suelos que hemos estado cuidando cuando nosotros y nuestros socios cerramos la compra de Talent Mobile Estates para ser la primera comunidad de propiedad de residentes del sur de Oregón.
Y ahora, a medida que se acerca el otoño, estamos reflexionando sobre los eventos de hace dos años y honrando tanto el dolor como la alegría de donde estamos hoy.
A couple of weeks ago, our Executive Director Erica Alexia Ledesma and our Lead Cultural Community Organizer Celines Garcia had a chance to speak about Coalición Fortaleza at the Urban League for All event at Southern Oregon University, sharing about the recent victory in the journey to restore Talent Mobile Estates, and about the importance of our work.
“Both Celines and I were born and raised in this Valley. The community that was impacted [by the fires] really raised us.” Erica shared, touching on the healing journey and the vision and the knowledge that we hold and that is guiding us.

Hace un par de semanas, nuestra Directora Ejecutiva, Erica Alexia Ledesma, y nuestra Organizadora Principal de la Comunidad Cultural, Celines García, tuvieron la oportunidad de hablar sobre Coalición Fortaleza en el evento Urban League for All en la Universidad del Sur de Oregon, compartiendo sobre la victoria en el viaje para restaurar Talento Mobile Estates, y sobre la importancia de nuestro trabajo.
“Tanto Celines como yo nacimos y crecimos en este Valle. La comunidad que se vio afectada [por los incendios] realmente nos crió”. Erica compartió, tocando el viaje de sanación y la visión y el conocimiento que tenemos y que nos está guiando.

Talent Community Commemorative Fair Feria conmemorativa de los incendios almeda
This weekend we will be gathering for a commemorative fair, in collaboration with Rogue Climate, Rogue Action Center and Rogue Food Unites. The event is this Saturday September 10th from 10am - 2pm.
We will gather in the parking lot behind Talent Town Hall at 206 E. Main St. Mariachi Centella is at 11:30am, and there will be Piñatas for the children and a family photographer!

Resources for the Rum Creek fire in Josephine County
Communities in Josephine County are responding to the Rum Creek Fire, which was ignited by lightning on Wednesday, August 17.
As of this writing, the fire is 21,227 Acres and 44% contained. We wanted to share some resources and information here, and express our support of all of those affected by this fire. Thank you to everyone who is contributing to response efforts!
