Welcome to another issue of the Schulz Says email newsletter. Please forward this issue to anyone in your organization who isn't a subscriber and who you think might benefit from staying up-to-date with Sage 100 news.

I'm expecting the next release of Sage 100 - version 2021 - in March 2021. However, this hasn't been publicly announced and I've yet to see any public roadmap of what to expect in the next release. Perhaps there will be more news about the next release during the Sage FY21 kickoff meetings later this month.

Various consultants continue to rumble about issues with Avalara's integration sometimes struggling with calculating taxable and non-taxable totals on certain orders.  This seems like it has been going on for well over a year. To be clear it doesn't seem to impact ever user but there is enough complaining that it bears close watch.

A few other thoughts since last week's issue....

Bug Fix! - Sage pushed out a hot-fix which resolves a pesky issue in Sage 100 2020 where AP check forms ( other than Standard ) might not allow for multiple bank codes. This didn't impact everyone but those who need multiple bank accounts per check form can breathe a big sigh. I'd suggest downloading Sage 100 2020.1 Program Fix AP6000T.
Attention Sage Certified Consultants: Renewals are coming soon. Sage will email an invoice on November 1 which will be due November 30 and subject to a late fee of $200 if not paid by December 31.
Sage FY21 Partner Kickoffs for partners and sales colleagues will be held virtually on October 27 and 28, 2020.
The EULA ( End User License Agreement ) for Sage 100 has been updated as of May 2020 - read the latest version here.

Free Utility To Check For Bad Dates In Sage 100 Data ( 2019+)

Have you received - Error: "Unable to view" [name of report, register etc] Database Connector Error: [Database Vendor Code:9]" when printing a report or register with an invalid date.

This can be caused by a malformed date in one of your data files. The problem is that there can be dozens of files to search through and finding bad dates isn't simple since many tools will refuse to print the bad data.

Sage has published a free utility - CHECKDATE - which you download here and place in your SOA folder. From there you run the program ( read how in the KB entry ) and it checks every data file which has a date field and prepares a report showing exactly which file and which record has the problem.

The utility won't fix your data ( use the Data File Display and Maintenance utility for that ) and it can take some time to run. However, it's lots faster than creating numerous Crystal Reports to search for the date error(s). Note: This utility does not work with Sage 100 Premium. Use a SQL query that includes a function like ISDATE() to find the invalid date fields. This also appears available for versions 2019 or higher though I haven't tested it on earlier releases so YMMV on whether it will work on prior releases.

Sage Readies Partner-Hosted Sage 100cloud on Azure

According to a public agenda for upcoming Sage Partner Kickoff meetings being held on October 27-28, 2020 Sage is readying a partner-hosted Azure offering for Sage 100 and Sage 300.

Cloud hosting for Sage 100 has been available for quite some time so Sage’s offering is likely more of a marketing campaign to make existing customers aware of the capability to run Sage 100cloud on hosted platforms. Read more here.

Summit Hosting Announces Lower Cost Summit Secure Workplace

Pick and choose the type of workspace each employee needs to work remotely. Some of your employees may only need a web browser to do their work while others need Microsoft Office too. Summit Secure Workspace allows you to choose the right fit for each user.

Summit Secure Workspace helps businesses avoid data loss or theft by moving their employee’s work into the cloud. Traditionally, if an employee’s company-issued laptop was stolen, any company data stored on the hard-drive would be at high risk of being compromised. With Summit Secure Workspace, company data is stored in a secure off-premise server instead of the laptop’s local hard drive, eliminating the threat.

Essentially this is a light version of cloud hosting designed for companies who run most of their applications through a web browser but need access to shared versions of Office desktop apps with some limited shared file storage.
