What is the recommended Period End or Year End order of closing for modules in Sage 100? (2022)

 


Summary

What is the recommended Period End or Year End order of closing for application modules in Sage 100?
  • Close Modules in the following order:
    1. B/M - Bill of Materials
    2. W/O - Work Order
    3. P/M - Production Management
    4. B/C - Bar Code
    5. P/O - Purchase Order
    6. S/O - Sales Order
    7. I/M - Inventory Management
    8. M/P - Material Requirements Planning
    9. P/R - Payroll
    10. A/R - Account Receivable
    11. A/P - Account Payable
    12. J/C - Job Cost
    13. B/R - Bank Reconciliation
    14. G/L - General Ledger
**Note: If a module is not activated, skip to the next module
  • The order logic assures an application module that writes to another application is processed first.

For example:
  • Sales Order Processing transfers information to Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger; therefore, all journals and registers for Sales Order Processing should be updated and Period End Processing completed before the other modules are closed.
  • Some application modules transfer information to other applications, in addition to receiving information from another application.

For example:
  • Job Cost can post invoices to Accounts Receivable. Accounts Receivable can post invoices to Job Cost. Therefore, all journals and registers for both Job Cost and Accounts Receivable should be updated prior to running Period End Processing for either application.
  • Some applications or modules do not have a period end or year end, or only have a year end
    For example:
  • Material Requirements Planning does not have Period Ends, only Year End

How To Activate Work Order in Sage 100 2022.x

First, this tip ONLY applies to customers who've requested and received a separate registration key for Work Order. The Work Order module is not shipped any longer on the Sage 100 installation disk. And Work Order is slated for retirement in 2023 as it has been replaced by Production Management.

However, in some cases a customer may request to receive Work Order for 2022 provided they are using functionality that is only contained in Work Order.

In those cases they will receive a 6-digit module key that will separately activate just the Work Order module. Here are the steps to perform that Work Order activation.
 

Resolution

  1. In Sage 100, select File, Register and activate the Product Keys containing the Work Order module
  2. In Sage 100, select File, Run and enter *UTL and select “Activate Work Order” and click OK
  3. Enter the 6 digit Module Key that was given when Work Order was ordered and hit Enter
  4. Click Accept and a message should display "The module was unlocked."
  5. Close Sage 100 after the Work Order Module is unlocked
  6. Re-open Sage 100 and access Work Order

Sage 100 2020.4 - 2020.6 Program Fix LM6029T Resolves Auto-Logoff Issue


This fix adds a prompt to Sage 100 2020 systems so that auto logoff will allow the user to continue working in Sage 100 and reset the logoff timer.

Sage Eliminating Separate Price List for Sage Partner Cloud Effective 1/1/2023


If you are a customer looking to purchase Sage 100 on the Sage Partner Cloud (SPC) - with provisioning portal - the separate price list previously used will now return to the regular price list. What's this all mean? I believe (and someone will email me if I'm wrong ) that when SPC was first introduced it also had it's own pricing which was higher than the standard Sage 100 pricing.

There was never really a clear explanation - at least none that I understood - as to why this was so. In retrospect, Sage indicates it was to simplify the pricing.

Effective 1/1/23 the old SPC price list will go away and the standard Sage 100 pricing will be used.

Sage Consultant Renewals Due November 30, 2022


If you are a Sage 100, 300, 500, CRM, X3, HRMS, Fixed Assets, BusinessVision or BusinessWorks consultant then your renewal is due on or before November 30, 2022.

These renewals are for certified consultants who hold competency roles for any of the above listed products. In some cases passing a recertification exam may be required. In others, your check is your recertification exam.
