If You eFile  or Print Tax Forms - Update Coming 12/15/2022

Important: You must be on one of the minimum versions listed below in order to load the patch ( due 12/5/22 ) required for efiling or printing tax forms for the 2022 tax year.

According to Sage KB 49810, an IRD is scheduled for December 15, 2022, for the following versions. If you are on one of these versions you should check to be sure you have also installed the appropriate product updated.

Ex, version 2021.3 is Sage 100 2021 with product update 3:
  • Sage 100 2022.0 - 2022.2 (7.10.0 - 7.10.2) plus IRD (due 12/15/2022)
  • Sage 100 2021.3 - 2021.5 (7.00.3 - 7.00.5) plus IRD (due 12/15/2022)
  • Sage 100 2020.5 - 2020.6 (6.20.5 - 6.20.6) plus IRD (due 12/15/2022)

The above versions with the forthcoming IRD will include the latest 1099 changes and are the minimum versions required if you are planning to file or print 1099 tax forms via Aatrix (whose update should arrive before 12/20/2022).

An updated payroll release 2.23.0 is scheduled for 12/15/2022 as well.

If you are using any other version of Sage 100 and you will print tax forms for 2022 through Sage 100 then contact your Sage partner for assistance with an upgrade.

Is Sage Now Shutting Down Sites With Subscriptions Expired >45 Days?

According to Sage KB 107870, here is how Sage data will be treated once a Sage 100 subscription expires:
  • Sage 100 allows a 45-day grace period with full access to data once a subscription expires. Customers will received a message informing them the subscription has expired and display how long they can continue accessing Sage 100 with full access. During this time, the Customer may contact Sales and renew their subscription if the expiration was unintentional.
  • After the 45-day grace period, Sage 100 will only have Read-Only access to data
  • Customers will not be able to launch the program after the 45 days unless they register the program with keys that have an active subscription.

I've always understood that users with an expired subscription would be allowed read-only access to their systems. I'm unsure if this is a poorly worded article ( perhaps it only applies to a module such as Payroll? ) or if it represents a change in policy regarding expired subscriptions.

Has anyone been able to test this with an expired subscription and if so, were you able to start Sage 100 and view data?

Sage Issues Hot Fix for Sage Intelligence Compliance with OAuth

I haven't run across this issue (yet), but Sage has a helpful KB that talks about setting up Sage Intelligence distribution settings with Office 365, which also includes a hotfix for OAuth Authentication.

There is also an Office 365 Application Registration document which contains screenshots of how to perform the setup. I suggest downloading the document and saving it for future reference.

TLS 1.2 Compliance Update for Sage 100

Sage released an updated chart showing versions of Sage 100 compatible with an upcoming change at Sage.

Beginning in October 2023, Sage License Servers ( SLS ) will no longer accept communication using the less secure TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols. This means if your Sage 100 version is not at least one of those listed below, you'll want to upgrade before October 2023.

After October 2023, if your Sage 100 ( subscription ) is not at one of the supported versions shown below, your data may go into a read-only mode once your systems fail to log in to the Sage licensing server ( SLS ).

My suggestion is you set a goal to stay within 2 versions of the current release, which is Sage 100 2022.
