Error: "SQL is not enabled" when opening Sage 100 Premium with TLS 1.0 and 1.1 disabled on SQL Server
After disabling TLS 1.0 and/or 1.1 on the SQL Server user may see an error "SQL is not enabled" when attempting to login to Sage 100 Premium. This may occur even on versions of Sage 100 which are TLS 1.2 compatible.
The issue appears to be at least partly attributable to the version of the SQL ODBC driver installed to both server and workstation as trying to connect directly to SLQ via ODBC may produce similar errors.
Cause
- TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are disabled on SQL Server
Resolution
- Sage Engineering is currently reviewing this issue
Possible Workaround
- Verify Micrososft SQL Native 11.4.7001 is installed on Server and workstation(s) (NOTE: Use Program and Features)
- Modify ....\MAS90\HOME\massql.settings in Notepad
- Change 'SQLOLEDB' to 'SQLNCLI11' under @Reporting section
- Example: Provider=SQLNCLI11;Data Source={dsn};User ID={username};Password={password};

Sage Updates Supported Platforms Matrices (9/2022)
Sage released updates dated 9/28/2022 for their supported platforms matrices ( aka SPM ) which outline the officially supported platforms.
The primary changes appear to be:
- Support for Windows 8.1 ends Jan 10, 2023.
- Support for Widows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 ends October 10, 2023.
There may be more changes that I haven't yet spotted. The complete set of updated supported platforms matrices for Sage 100 versions 2020 through 2022 may be reviewed in the Sage knowledgebase here.
