Sage 100 Weekly News Curated by Wayne Schulz - 09/24/2020
Welcome to this week's Sage 100 email newsletter.

It's Thursday, September 24, 2020. Hard to believe but a little over 1 year ago Jen and I were moving to our new location in Moodus CT and thought there might be no end to the unpacking of moving boxes!

Fast forward to 2020 and things are finally unpacked, our WFH offices are set up for what now seems like a prolonged stretch and we even survived our first extended internet/power outage.

As we near the end of 2020, I hope you are working safely, and should you need additional assistance with setting up Sage for extended remote work or to get more from the data within your system you won't hesitate to reach out to me at

While we are on the topic of getting more out of your Sage system ...

  • Were you able to sit in on DataSelf's KPI for Distribution companies on September 17, 2020? Here's a recording ( 5 minutes of PPT, 35 minutes of demo). Yes, you can create some of these in Crystal Reports - but in my experience, it's easy to underestimate the effort it's going to take and the amount of what-if which happens.  Plus, Crystal tends to be s-l-o-w with large datasets. DataSelf warehouses the data to SQL from where their reports and dashboards are created. Joni Girardi - is your contact for more info.
  • Sage 100 version 2020 product update 1 is now available. Here's a PDF copy of the what's new guide and here's the link to download this update.
  • We're still waiting for the next payroll update ( 2.20.3 ) which Sage says will include payroll tax deferral options in the update due around the end of September.
  • I'd like to welcome our three newsletter sponsors- American Payments ( Integrated payments for Sage, SAP, Intuit, Acumatica), DataSelf ( Business Intelligence Reporting - Sage, Acumatica, Intuit, SAP, Netsuite, etc),  ScanForce ( Warehouse Management for Sage and Sage Intacct ), and our website sponsor Summit Hosting ( Hosted Sage and Intuit). I paused sponsorship during the pandemic and will restart it with the October 1, 2020 issue.  Please be sure to mention that you saw them in our newsletter as you speak with them about any needs you may have.

    In Memoriam: Mario Rodriguez

  • Mario Rodriguez, one of the owners of ScanForce, passed away on August 5, 2020, from complications of COVID. Mario was well known and liked within the Sage community. He was very dedicated to his family and will be missed by all who knew him. The company continues with no interruption and staff in place including his son Dan Rodriguez and Steve Showalter who you've probably met and worked with

We just broke 217 registered members on this group, I'm posting the latest updates and technical tips regarding the North American version of Sage 100. Occasionally I'll host a Facebook Live on a topic that I think is of high interest to users.

This group is only for currently active Sage partners, ISVS, and Sage employees. We just broke 85 members.  This is more of an industry news sharing group that allows us to share items that wouldn't be of interest to most end-users.

Stay Safe!

Updated Supported Platforms Now Available ( September 2020 )

Sage has released updated Supported Platforms Matrices ( SPM ). There are three available guides - one each for Standard, Advanced, and Premium ( SQL ) respectively which serve as the official compatibility chart for the operating system and hardware configurations.

I haven't spotted any big changes. Windows Server 2019 Data Center now appears to be supported as well as SQL 2019. Check out the entire list for the details by visiting Sage's KB entry here.

Level 3 Credit Card Processing - What Is It?

Level 3 credit card processing refers to business to business or government to business card processing. Sometimes referred to as a corporate card, these credit cards can carry much lower processing fees provided you capture the required data ( see chart above).

If you're processing credit cards then you should be sure to capture level 3 data wherever possible. In some ( but not all ) cases this can be done automatically for you.

With more and more business being transacted remotely - it is going to pay for you to ensure your merchant account is set up to accommodate the various levels of processing as described more fully here.
