Die Förderung von nachhaltigen Freizeitaktivitäten in der Natur ist ein Kernthema der Naturfreunde, das im Zuge der Corona-Krise noch an Brisanz gewann. Die Basis für ein gelungenes Naturerlebnis sind dabei immer ein einigermaßen intakter Naturraum und ein rücksichtsvolles Verhalten der Erholungssuchenden – dies in den Vordergrund zu rücken, ist das Ziel unserer Initiative Respect Nature, die wir gemeinsam mit den Naturfreunden Österreich und der Naturfreundejugend mit Unterstützung der Österreichischen Bundesforste als österreichisches Pilotprojekt umsetzen und in den nächsten Jahren international ausweiten wollen. EU-Bürger*innen-Plattform über die Zukunft Europas

„Die Zukunft liegt in Ihren Händen!“ Unter diesem Motto sind alle Bürger*innen der EU aufgerufen, sich an einer mehrsprachigen, digitalen Plattform zu beteiligen und ihre Meinungen und Ideen für eine gute Zukunft Europas einzubringen. Diese Plattform bietet – zum ersten Mal auf EU-Ebene – die Möglichkeit, Themen vorzuschlagen, die Ideen anderer zu kommentieren, Veranstaltungen zu erstellen und daran teilzunehmen. Europäisches Jahr der Schiene

Die Europäische Kommission hat 2021 zum Europäischen Jahr der Schiene #EUYearofRail erklärt. Diese Initiative – begleitet von zahlreichen Aktivitäten in ganz Europa – rückt die Vorteile der Bahn als nachhaltiges, smartes und sicheres Verkehrsmittel sowie ihren Beitrag zur Klimaneutralität Europas bis 2050, wie es der Green Deal vorsieht, ins Rampenlicht. Susi Raub-Vogler | Internationale Sekretärin der Naturfreunde Kalifornien

Susi Raub-Vogler ist seit 1999 Internationale Sekretärin der Naturfreunde Kalifornien und vertritt ihre Organisation im internationalen Naturfreunde-Netzwerk. Im Interview spricht sie über ihre Motivation, ihre Arbeit für die Naturfreunde und ihre Visionen für die Zukunft.

Du bist seit vielen Jahren bei den Naturfreunden in Kalifornien aktiv – wie bist du zu den Naturfreunden gekommen und was hat dich bewogen, dich in unserer Bewegung zu engagieren?
Ich verdanke mein Engagement bei den kalifornischen Naturfreunden meinen Eltern, die 1960 aus Deutschland nach San Francisco ausgewandert sind. Ihr Bedürfnis, Erholung vom Großstadt-Kulturschock zu finden, führte sie zum "Nature Friends Tourist Club" von San Francisco, der 1912 von Österreicher*innen und Deutschen gegründet wurde. Meine Eltern freuten sich, in einer wunderschönen Umgebung, die sie an den Schwarzwald erinnerte, so etwas wie eine Verbindung zum „alten Land“ zu finden.
Ich wurde quasi in den Club hineingeboren und bin schon mein Leben lang Mitglied. Mein Vater war 28 Jahre lang der Internationale Sekretär der Naturefriends California, bis ich 1999 seine Position übernahm. Es war für mich selbstverständlich, in seine Fußstapfen zu treten, da ich die wunderbaren Vorteile genoss, in der Naturfreunde-Organisation und unter seiner internationalen Erfahrung aufzuwachsen. Ich bin der festen Überzeugung, dass wir gesunde menschliche Aktivitäten und die Gemeinschaft fördern müssen, um ein gesundes und lebenswertes Umfeld zu schaffen – und das fördern die Naturfreunde. Durch unsere Gemeinschaft können wir Menschen motivieren, mitzuhelfen, um das zu erhalten, was wir so sehr schätzen: eine intakte Umwelt und das Miteinander. Die Bereicherung, die ich durch die Naturfreunde erfahren habe, ist von unschätzbarem Wert!

Respect Nature - experience more sustainably

The promotion of sustainable leisure activities in nature is a core issue of Naturefriends, which became even more relevant during the Corona crisis.The basis for a positive experience in nature is always a largely intact natural environment and the respectful behaviour of visitors – this is the goal of our Respect Nature initiative, which we are implementing as an Austrian pilot project together with the Naturefriends Austria and the Young Naturefriends Austria with the support of the Austrian Federal Forests (Österreichische Bundesforste). We plan to expand the project internationally in the coming years.

Susi Raub-Vogler| International Secretary of Nature Friends California

Susi Raub-Vogler has been International Secretary of Nature Friends California since 1999 and represents her organisation within the international Nature Friends network. In this interview she talks about her motivation, her work for Nature Friends and her visions for the future.

You have been playing an active role with the Nature Friends in California for many years – why did you get involved with Nature Friends and what made you decide to become involved in our movement?
Ultimately, I must thank my parents for my involvement in the California Naturefriends, who emigrated from Germany to San Francisco in 1960. Their need, to find reprieve from big-city culture shock, led them to t he “Nature Friends Tourist Club” of San Francisco that was established in 1912 by Austrians and Germans. My parents rejoiced in finding what felt like a connection to “the old country” in a beautiful setting that reminded them of the Black Forest.
I was born into the club and have been a lifelong member. My father was the Naturefriends California International Secretary for 28 years until I assumed his position in 1999. It was natural for me to continue in his footsteps, as I enjoyed the wonderful benefits of growing up in the Naturefriends organization and under his international experience. I strongly believe, in order to foster any and all healthy environments, we must encourage healthy human activities and community, and this is what the NF promotes. Through such community we can motivate people to help preserve what we value so greatly – our natural environment and friendship. The enrichment I have gained from the Naturefriends has been invaluable!

Respect Nature – Pour plus de comportements durables vis-à-vis de la nature

La promotion d'activités de loisirs durables dans la nature compte parmi les priorités d’action des Amis de la Nature. Pour que les découvertes de la nature puissent donner satisfaction, il faut comme fondement un espace naturel à peu près intact et des comportements attentionnés de la part de ceux qui cherchent la récréation ; mettre cela en évidence est l'objectif de notre initiative Respect Nature, que nous mettons en œuvre comme projet pilote autrichien avec les Amis de la Nature d’Autriche et les Jeunes Amis de la Nature, avec le soutien des forêts nationales autrichiennes (Österreichische Bundesforste) et que nous avons l'intention d'étendre au niveau international dans les années à venir.

La Commission européenne a déclaré l'année 2021 Année européenne du rail. Cette initiative – accompagnée de nombreuses activités dans toute l'Europe – met en avant les avantages du rail en tant que mode de transport durable, intelligent et sûr, ainsi que sa contribution à la neutralité climatique de l'Europe d'ici 2050, comme le prévoit le Green Deal. Susi Raub-Vogler est Secrétaire internationale des Amis de la Nature de Californie depuis 1999 et représente son organisation au sein du réseau international des Amis de la Nature. Dans cette interview, elle parle de sa motivation, de son travail pour les Amis de la Nature et de ses visions pour l'avenir.

Tu joues un rôle actif au sein des Amis de la Nature en Californie depuis de nombreuses années – pourquoi es-tu engagée auprès des Amis de la Nature et qu'est-ce qui t’a motivée pour t’impliquer dans notre mouvement ?
C’est grâce à mes parents que je me suis rapprochée des Amis de la Nature en Californie. Ayant émigré d'Allemagne à San Francisco en 1960, leur besoin de compenser le choc culturel de la grande ville les a conduits au « Nature Friends Tourist Club » de San Francisco, créé en 1912 par des Autrichiens et des Allemands. Mes parents ont été contents de trouver ici ce qui leur semblait être un lien avec le « vieux pays » dans un cadre magnifique qui leur rappelait la Forêt-Noire.
Je suis donc en quelque sorte née dans ce Club et j'en suis membre depuis toujours. Mon père a été le Secrétaire international des Amis de la Nature de Californie pendant 28 ans, jusqu’en 1999, quand je l’ai remplacé à ce poste. Il allait de soi pour moi de continuer sur ses traces, car j'ai apprécié les bénéfices de l’appartenance au mouvement des Amis de la Nature, tout en profitant de l’expérience internationale de mon père. Je suis fermement convaincue que, afin d’agir pour un environnement sain, nous devons encourager des activités humaines et des communautés saines, et c'est ce que les Amis de la Nature proposent. Grâce à cette communauté d’esprit, nous pouvons motiver les gens à contribuer à préserver ce que nous apprécions tant – notre environnement naturel et la camaraderie. L'enrichissement que m’ont procuré les Amis de la Nature a été d’une valeur inestimable !
