Bitter & Esters Welcomes John Palmer to NYC!

We at Bitter & Esters are very excited (and humbled) to host noted homebrewing guru and author John Palmer (How to Brew, Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers) for a whirlwind tour of New York City’s creative homebrewing scene and a celebration of National Homebrew Day, Saturday May 3rd 2014.

On Saturday, May 3rd, John will be signing copies of his book, Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers and will be talking with homebrewers from 1pm-4pm at our shop. We’ll be brewing a 15 gallon batch of beer of Mr. Palmer’s choosing on our brew on premises system for Big Brew Day. Fans are encouraged to bring their well-worn copy of How to Brew for Mr. Palmer to sign!

John will be visiting with the Pour Standards homebrew club in Staten Island from 6pm-9pm at the Staten Island Makerspace where he will be signing copies of his book, Water and talking with homebrewers. Pour Standards will also be brewing a beer for National Homebrew Day/Big Brew Day.

On Sunday May 4th, John will be in Queens at Finback Brewery from 12pm - 4pm for an American Homebrewers Association Rally. This event is free to current AHA members and is a great way to meet other local homebrewers, enjoy Finback Brewery samples and win great prizes from the AHA and Finback.

508 Gastrobrewery, one of NYC’s only brewpubs (and an excellent gastropub) will be having a free event for Mr. Palmer from 6pm-9pm, where he will be signing copies of Water and meeting with home brewers. There will also be homebrew swapping and tasting with the New York City Homebrewers Guild, New York City's oldest home brew club.

On Monday May 5th, Mr. Palmer will be appearing on Fuhmentaboudit!, a radio program that “aims to demystify the art of home fermentation with a primary focus on home brewing beer” with Chris Cuzme of 508 Gastrobrewery and Mary Izett, president emeritus of the New York City Homebrewers Guild.

We really hope that you can join us for this exciting weekend of beer events with John Palmer!
