Milestone Blood Donors
We would like to recognize and congratulate those who have given the Gift of Life through blood donation with Unyts. As WNY’s only community blood bank it is our responsibility to answer the call for blood at our local hospitals - including ECMC, Kaleida Health, and all the hospitals in Niagara and Wyoming Counties. When you donate through our community blood bank, you ensure that your friends and family have the blood products available when they need them. This is why we feel it is so important to thank those who have been loyal donors and heroes to the Western New York community! See the milestone donors for the third quarter of 2016!

Casting Call!
If you are waiting for an organ transplant or need blood on a regular basis Unyts - Donate Life wants to hear your story!

This fall Unyts is going to begin production on Phase II of our Check Yes campaign— to motivate the unregistered to sign up as organ, eye and tissue donors, to inspire conversation among loved ones about organ donation, to move those who have never given before to donate blood, and to prompt lapsed and infrequent blood donors to give again. The commercials feature REAL WNYers who are personally affected by donation and transplantation, and this is where YOU come in.

If you are interested in sharing your story as a part of this important campaign please complete this form by Friday, September 30th or c
ontact Sarah Diina at sdiina@unyts.org or 716.512.7941.

Honoring Our Heroes: Bradley James Fagan
"On October 26, 2015, Bradley was pronounced dead. I made the decision to make him an organ donor. I know that my son is still alive because his heart is still beating inside that little girl. He will forever be my hero!"

Why Do You Donate Blood?
Jean Clontz received countless blood transfusions throughout 2015. Two major surgeries and the need to use blood thinners caused Jean to need many blood transfusions. Because of generous blood donors in this community, Jean was able to receive the transfusions she desperately needed.

Volunteer with Us
We are so fortunate to have an incredible group of dedicated volunteers here at Unyts and we want you to get to know them! Meet Naomi!

"Sharing personal stories about organ donation makes people understand how important it is to register. I'm alive today because my donor made a selfless decision to register as an organ donor." Learn more about Naomi

Unyts is seeking volunteers for information tables, blood drives and other community events. Unyts provides training as well as shadowing opportunities. Individuals with a personal connection to Unyts’ mission are also needed to speak to students and community groups about donation and transplantation. Sponsor of the Month
Every month, a blood drive sponsor who went above and beyond to recruit more Unyts donors will be named “Sponsor of the Month.” The Blood Drive Sponsor of the Month is Hilbert College.

On Thursday, October 20th Hilbert collage held a blood drive in their West Herr Atrium. The students of BI 300 Genetics sponsored the blood drive, campaigning all week long for it.

They had information tables set up encouraging students to register as an organ donor and make an appointment to donate blood. Announcements were made throughout the week and students held a Jeopardy game to help spread the Unyts mission on campus.

Hilbert has been running blood drives with Unyts since 2012. Alongside their fearless leader, Rachel Wozniak the students were able to bring in 35 donors!

We are looking forward to their next blood drive in the spring!

A footballer who died after being injured on the field has helped 70 others through organ and tissue donation and, thanks to his family’s inspiring work, promises to save countless others.
