Hello everyone!

What a great start to the new year! Last week we had 56 orders, that is our second best week ever (right behind our bday in July with 64 orders!). We also had a great sales week, just over $4,100 in sales to all 9 hub locations! For comparison, last year on our first week back we had 45 orders and $2,924 in sales. So, not only are we getting more regular customers (thank you!) but we are also seeing customers purchasing more, which is fantastic! What that says to me is that more people are adding more local ingredients to their shopping list. Olde Furrow Farm had a great tip about this last week. They said...

"It can be hard to shop more consciously with so much information flying everywhere but if you take a moment and pay attention to what you feel when you buy an item at the farmer's market and when you buy an item at a much larger establishment they feel quite different! No need to over complicate things or even go all in. Change is much like a flower. It takes so much energy to create the flower but once it starts to blossom it really gets to transforming quite fast! Personal tip/trick: We distrubute our grocery budget 50/50 - meaning 50% small business 50% big business. This means when we want to buy more from one side the other side goes up too. It keeps us in check locally and finicially. A simple win-win. "

As you can imagine, January isn't often the busiest time for farmers, so knowing that customers continue to support WFM2Go and our local producers is amazing! We really are building a better food system for all and we are doing it together :)

Have a great weekend,
Lindsay & WFM2Go Team
Bi-Weekly Deals are Back!
Robertson's Farm & Apothecary is offering a free tea sample with every purchase from them! Click here to check out what they offer in the store!

We asked Rachael a few questions about themselves and the farm:

What is the strangest thing you've eaten?
My strangest thing I've ever eaten - was green lipped muscles in New Zealand. they were very large and hairy with sea weed. (If you've ever eaten one, you'll know what they resemble.) And I'm not sure if I'd ever eat them again. I know they are good for inflammation, but I'll stick with our turmeric tisane in future.

Why is buying local/supporting local important to you?
Buying and supporting local is so important as it allows us to develop and prepare products and produce that will help us when an apocalypse comes.😜
What is your superpower; what is it that you are naturally good at and bring to the table wherever you work?
My superpower is managing to make a meal for my family out of 'nothing'. Well, nothing in my husbands eyes. The cupboard is empty!
Well not quite. let's just fry up some veggies from Emily, a sausage or two from Jeff, top with a fried egg from our girls and Sauerkraut from Jocelyn. Ta-da!! Nothing you say!? Pah. I think that's why he married me.
Did you know?

Did you know that Farm Girl Preserves' products are vegan and only 2 contain flour?

Vicki says, “When working with flour we dedicate a day strictly for the products that contain wheat. Doing so, along with proper sterilization procedures, eliminates cross contamination with our other products. Fine partials of flour have their way of hanging around in the air and on counter tops undetected. We take every precaution necessary to have truly wheat free products."

Also, many companies use butter in their jam to eliminate foam from forming in the boiling stage. Not at Farm Girl Preserves. We love having our products available to a wide range of diet restrictions.Check out their products here
