Supporting research @ RUSH
SLC is in collaboration with child development researchers at RUSH Medical Center. These researchers want to understand how face masks affect word learning in young children. SLC families, with children ages 4-6, are invited to participate in this project.

Black History Month Highlight
A few books the Blue Room kids are enjoying this week include Sing Aretha, Sing!, Little Legends; Exceptional Men in Black History and Little Leaders; Bold Women in Black History. They also learned about Mae Jemison, the first black woman to travel into space!

Staff Spotlight
Meet Donna Oline. This is Donna's 22nd year teaching at SLC! Donna teaches Pre-K in the Blue Room, but she has taught every age and in every classroom. She loves the warm, nurturing environment of SLC and her wonderful, supportive co-workers. When Donna is not teaching, she enjoys crossword puzzles, watching documentaries and taking long walks.
Fun facts: Donna's 15yr old son Sean is an SLC alum and her sister Kathryn also teaches at SLC!

The SLC staff has been showered with appreciation over the last month. Thank you to our Governing Board president; Chris Butts and family, for providing tea, hot cocoa and sweet treats. Thank you to The Rainbow Room room parents; Sara and Jana, for providing coffee and baked good. And thank you to Mary Choi; Rainbow Room parent, for surprising us with Paczkis on Fat Tuesday. We feel very lucky!!
