February Buy-in Party
Beth Ilbawi and Abbie Fombellida (both Red Room parents) are hosting a lovely buy-in party! Join them for a night in España to support SLC on Tuesday, February 28th at 7pm. Enjoy Spanish wines, tapas and a flamenco show from a local professional.
Buy-in parties benefit SLC's Scholarship program and provide the opportunity for our community to socialize outside of SLC! We hope you'll join Beth and Abbie this month!

Dealing with a child’s challenging behavior is one of the toughest parts of parenting. Join Cari as she explores the power of using a relationship-based discipline approach based on connection, compassion, and co- regulation to support young children during times of distress. Storytime @ Booked Bookstore
Drop in with kids ages 0-5 next Saturday, February 11, at 10:30am for a Valentine's Storytime. We'll sing songs, read some sweet books about love, and have crafts and coloring! Plus, check out our selection of Valentine's Day books for all ages, from beloved board books to steamy romances. We love love here!

Black History Month Highlight
The Yellow Room is honoring Black History Month through storytelling, poetry and music! A favorite book of theirs is Harlem Grown by Tony Hillery. Learn more about Tony and his mission to end poverty through urban gardening here.
Other books they love include Hey Black Child by Useni Eugene Perkins, This Jazz Man by Karen Ehrhardt, and Full Full Full of Love by Trish Cooke.
The Yellow Room class also enjoys listening to jazz music by Louis Armstrong! They have fun singing the ABC's with Usher and listening to a young poet (3 years old!) recite Hey Black Child. Enjoy!

Staff Spotlight
Meet Dawn Borchardt! Dawn teaches in the Pre-K Blue Room. Dawn has been teaching at SLC for eight years and says the best thing about teaching at SLC is the children (of course!). What makes SLC extra special in her opinion, is her supportive colleagues. When Dawn is not teaching, she enjoys traveling and listening to live music!
