February Buy-in Party: Night in Spain!
Beth Ilbawi and Abbie Fombellida (both Red Room parents) are hosting a lovely buy-in party! Join them for a night in España to support SLC on Tuesday, February 28th at 7pm. Enjoy Spanish wines, tapas and a flamenco show from a local professional.
Buy-in parties benefit SLC's Scholarship program and provide the opportunity for our community to socialize outside of SLC! We hope you'll join Beth and Abbie this month!

Black History Month Highlight
The Red Room is celebrating black authors, poets and innovators this week!
Monday: they read books by Nina Crews and learned that she is a photographer who uses real life photos in her books.
Tuesday: they learned about the children's author, Donald Crews and read Bigmama's about a memorable childhood experience of his, traveling with his family to Florida to visit his grandmother. Also, Donald is Nina's father! Wow!
Wednesday: they learned that Gwendolyn Brooks is a famous poet who grew up in Chicago!
Thursday: Did you know that George Franklin Grant was the first African-American professor at Harvard, a dentist, and an inventor of the golf tee?!

Staff Spotlight
Meet Lara Menendez! We are thrilled Lara joined the Rainbow Room team (and Kindergarten PM) this year. Lara says her favorite thing about SLC is the welcoming community of teachers and families, she says "It's a joy coming to work every day knowing we are all in it together and care about each other." When Lara is not teaching preschool, she enjoys teaching yoga and Pilates, reading historical fiction and spending time with her family!

Baby News!
Congratulations to the Kao family; Erin, Bryan and big brother, Lane on the birth of baby Wally! Walter “Wally” Blake Kao was born on Friday Feb 10th. We are wishing them all the best as they transition to a family of 4!
