Maria MehranianDear Friends and Family of Armenia Fund,

oday marks the 27th anniversary of the founding of Armenia Fund in the United States. Every year, we celebrate this day with great pride, and a determination to make the future better than the past. The events of the last few months have left us with a tremendous sense of loss, grief and anxiety about the challenges facing the people of Artsakh and Armenia.  Nevertheless, our resolve is unchanged.  The sustained and continuing support of our donors,  is a powerful testament to our enduring commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Over the past decade, Armenia fund and its affiliates have raised more than $300 million, and implemented projects benefiting the people in Armenia and Artsakh. The steadfast support of our more than 200,000 donors—including you—has helped us build housing, community centers, hospitals, roads and highways. Just in the last few months, Armenia Fund has purchased and delivered high-end medical equipment to treat servicemen injured on the front lines, and provided support to their families and the internally displaced people facing dire conditions.

Armenia Fund has worked tirelessly to establish and maintain a reputation which stands the test of time. We have been a part of the community for nearly three decades, deploying our resources, capabilities and local know how to turn your donations into impactful, life-saving projects.

In this newsletter, you will meet Nerses Iskanian, a successful young businessman who raised nearly $1 million through a social media campaign and COVID-safe concert—generating funds to directly help those in need in Armenia and Artsakh.

It is a great honor to serve as the executive director of this distinguished organization. I hope to get to know many more of you in the months and years ahead.  As we look ahead to the future, we will continue to work closely with our long-time supporters—as well as cultivate the next generation of the Armenia Fund family.

Donor's Corner

Nerses Iskanian has been a supporter of Armenia Fund as long as he can remember. The successful entrepreneur remembers watching the telethon with his parents every Thanksgiving and donating each time.

But when the war broke out last year, Iskanian decided to do more. He started with an Instagram fundraiser, where he challenged friends and family to “donate and share.” It raised more than $500,000.

Iskanian wasn’t done yet, however. He teamed up with a legendary entertainer, Harout Pampboukjian, who agreed to perform an acoustic concert in Iskanian’s backyard. They held a safe, outdoor fundraiser under the stars, selling tickets at $500 each, with an auction as well. The event raised $425,000 in just one night.

Iskanian saw a clear need in Armenia and Artsakh—and knew there was only one organization who could meet it: Armenia Fund.

“We can't give up just because the conflict took a turn not the way we wanted to,” Iskanian said. “This is a time where we need to come together and help through Armenia Fund. Armenia Fund is the most reputable organization. It’s an entity we can trust.”

The people of Armenia and Artsakh face a difficult road ahead. But the Iskanian family is here to help for the long haul.

“Our family will always support Armenia Fund,” he said.
