Stand up for the Montgomery Way, Sun Nov 20, 2:30-3:30pm, Veterans Plaza

County leaders including County Executive Ike Leggett, Montgomery College president DeRionne Pollard, County Council members and other public officials will lead a rally responding to an outbreak of hateful incidents across the county following Donald Trump's electoral college victory on November 8. The threatening actions include racist graffiti on a bathroom wall at Sligo Creek ES, and a white supremacist message ("Trump Nation. Whites Only") scrawled on a banner advertising Spanish language religious services at Episcopal Church of Our Saviour in Hillandale.

The rally will take place from 2:30-3:30pm at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring.

Mansfield Kaseman (interfaith community liaison, Montg. County Office of Community Partnerships) told MyMCMedia, "...there have been far more expressions of hatred since the election than anytime I can recall in the four years now that I’ve been monitoring hate and violent acts.”
