Director's Message

September saw the launch of the UNSW APRU Research Hub in Population Ageing, a milestone in getting better communication, coordination and collaboration around population ageing research focused on the Asia Pacific. UNSW recently joined APRU, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, and this is the university’s first major initiative under the APRU umbrella. more

CEPAR People 
Associate Investigator Elisabetta Magnani
Associate Professor Elisabetta Magnani, an economist with the UNSW Australia Business School, opened the first  plenary session of the APRU Ageing in the Asia-Pacific Research Symposium.
An Associate Investigator with CEPAR, Elisabetta is examining an exigent aspect of population ageing - labour market development for ageing workforces. 

“Workforce ageing will become more of a frontline issue 
over the next few years with greater emphasis on retention and participation of older people in the labour force,”
she says. more

Chief Investigator Alan Woodland presented on Population Ageing, Education and Skill Premium in International Trade at the European Trade Study Group (ETSG) 2015 Conference in Paris on 19 September. 

He then joined Rafal Chomik and George Kudrna for presentations at the CEPAR/CESifo Workshops: Pension Taxation, Population Ageing, and Globalisation (Part 2, Munich) in September, where Associate Investigator Hazel Bateman chaired a roundtable to discuss Where from here?

Chief Investigator Michael Sherris gave a presentation in September to the Actuaries Institute NSW on Product Pricing and Solvency Capital Requirements for Long-Term Care Insurance.

It translates ground breaking research from top business thinkers into business insights.

A new Asia Pacific-wide Research Hub has been established at the University of New South Wales, providing a regional forum for research collaboration on population ageing more

From Colombia via Cass Business School, City University London, Andres Villegas Ramirez has joined CEPAR to work with Professor Michael Sherris and his team. more
