AICM News turns 1

May 2015 was our first edition of AICM news, 12 months on we hope this has become an integral part of your efforts to stay up to date with developments in your industry and institute.

In May we heard Stephen Koukoulas talk of continued softening in the economy, saw the impacts of Dick Smith, Arrium and other major insolvencies flow through and launched the 2016 Women in Credit Luncheons.

As the month draws to a close and we start to look toward a new financial year, this newsletter will help you ensure you have taken advantage of all of the updates and opportunities available to you and your team to be at the top of your game.

After having been delayed for several years, Papua New Guinea’s new Personal Property Security Act and associated register commenced on Monday, 9 May 2016. These laws and its register are similar to Australia’s Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth), however there are also a number of major differences.

Fijian Government closes Credit Bureau
The AICM is a vocal advocate on the benefits a full and transparent credit reporting regime, it is therefore concerning for any members who transact with Fijian businesses to learn that the Fijian Government recently decided to close down the countries only Credit Bureau.

Women In Credit

On Friday 20 May a spectacular Luncheon was held at the Kirriblli Club. The guests were inspired by Maureen Bell of GoldMind to utilise the power of their most important asset.. their voice, raised $1,570 for Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre and enjoyed networking with fellow WINC's.


The next WINC luncheon will be held on 23 June in Adelaide save the date and stay tuned (or register now) this function will feature a panel of accomplished women from various sectors sharing their experiences.
