CIE Tutorial and Expert Symposium on
CIE S 025 LED Lamps, LED Luminaires and
LED Modules Test Standard

Registration now open!

November 23 – 27, 2015, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Braunschweig, Germany.

CIE Division 2 is pleased to offer you the opportunity to attend a two day tutorial on the first international standard specifically developed to aid the consistent measurement of LED based systems.

CIE S 025 provides requirements to perform reproducible photometric and colorimetric measurements on LED lamps, LED modules, and LED luminaires (LED devices) for operation with AC or DC supply voltages. It also provides advice for reporting the data. The standard has been developed by the technical committee CIE TC 2-71 in close collaboration with the European Standardization Committee CEN/TC 169/WG 7 (photometry). The European standard EN 13032-4 is technically equivalent to CIE S 025.

The standard aims in particular to cover measurement methods for testing the compliance of LED devices with the photometric and colorimetric requirements of LED performance standards recently published by IEC. The document represents a consensus between National Metrology Institutes, testing laboratories and the user community to guarantee photometrically correct but economically affordable measurement results.

The two day tutorial lectures will focus on the practical implementation of the standard and will cover basic concepts to advanced techniques in photometric and colorimetric measurements. The tutorial also incoporates practical work, which will be held at the Photometry and Applied Radiometry Department of PTB. In all sessions of the tutorial emphasis will be given to the evaluation of measurement uncertainties.

Laboratory based topics will include:
In-sphere measurements of LEDs, goniophotometric measurments of LEDs and broadband radiometric calibrations There will also be the opportunity for a general laboratory tour through the Photometry and Applied Radiometry Department.

On the third day a scientific symposium will feature contributed papers on topics related to this standard.

This tutorial and expert symposium is aimed at engineers, testing laboratory staff and researchers in LED and solid state lighting measurement and other related lighting fields.
