American Baptists Called to Pray for Ukraine
Dr. Jeff Woods, our ABC USA General Secretary, has issued a call for us to pray for Ukraine. If you would like to read the full text of this call to prayer, or share this with your congregation, click here.
In response to immediate needs resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began on February 24, 2022, International Ministries has sent an initial grant of $15,000 in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) emergency relief to the European Baptist Federation to provide humanitarian aid for Ukrainian Baptists. This grant joins a larger, global Baptist response to this evolving situation. Read More Here
|Burma Advocacy Group Convened by the American Baptist Churches March 1, 2022 - NEEDS OUR HELP
Dear Pastor/ Leader:
I write to you to ask your church to participate in a signature campaign promoted by the Burma Advocacy Group, a coalition convened by the American Baptist Churches Commission on Burma Refugees. The Burma Advocacy Group (BAG) is a group of leaders from associations, churches, community groups and acting with one voice to advocate for the passage of the Burma Bill.
We would like to give a special thanks to our friends at www.21Wilberforce.org for partnering with us as we defend freedom and justice in Burma. The Goal of the Campaign is to gather and submit as many signatures as possible to our US Senators and Representatives to request them to pass the (revised) Burma Bill that is under consideration. The Burma Advocacy Group believes the Burma Bill is our greatest opportunity to achieve:
an end to the human tragedy and crimes against humanity in Burma,
an end the brutal military dictatorship in Burma, and
an opportunity to achieve a federal democracy in Burma for which the people of Burma have been giving their lives.
Please promote the Signature Campaign in your congregation as well as with other churches and community groups who might participate to help pass the Burma Bill. We ask you
1) to share the campaign information in this letter and attached petition with your congregation and others via your website or other means.
2) We suggest you ask your youth group to assist any who need help to sign with the QR code by walking them through the QR process. Hard copies of the petition, which is attached, may be printed for people to sign. Signed hard copies must be photographed and emailed to Burmaadvocacygroup@gmail.org. This is another task your youth group might do. Please click on this download link to get all of the important details. The deadline for gathering signatures is March 31, 2022.

|Prayers for Executive Minister, Rev. Dr. Mary Day Miller
| American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts Executive Minister, Rev. Dr. Mary Day Miller and former Associate Region Minister here in Mid-America suffered a fall two Sundays ago while visiting one of our American Baptist churches, and has sustained significant damage to one of her eyes. Her condition requires surgery on Friday of this week, and more than likely additional recovery time beyond that. Please join me in prayer for Mary’s comfort, recovery and healing, and for the peace of Christ to accompany her in this time, as well as for the wisdom and skill of the physicians tending to her needs. You can email your words of encouragement to email@example.com. Due to the nature of Mary’s injury, please use a larger font size for your messages whenever possible.

and a recommendation needed
Here are some recent photos from Johnston Piecemakers, which meets at FBC Des Moines, Iowa. We meet once per month and consist of both church and community members. Because of the pandemic we have quite an inventory of quilts built up, mostly for children. In the past we have donated to cancer camps, domestic and foreign missions, Ronald McDonald House, and the like. If you know of a program for children for which a quilt would provide comfort, please send contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Dayton Oaks Fundraiser:
Our 100 days to raise fundraiser starts Tuesday, February 1st. The fundraiser will run for 100 days and end on Wednesday, May 11th. Our goal is to raise $6,000 for the Dayton Oaks camping ministry. If we meet our goal on or before May 11th, Matt has agreed to shave his beard and the pictures will be posted on our social media. (Now I can't remember exactly the last time Matt was clean shaven, but I know our daughter who is almost 23 hasn't seen her dad without facial hair.)
Here's the link to donate: https://www.daytonoaks.org/support-us or you can mail your check directly to Dayton Oaks. If you mail a check please be sure to put in the memo line that this is for #100days or babyface Matt or something even more clever so we know that the donation goes towards the #100days fundraiser. Thanks for supporting Dayton Oaks Camp - Dani
