Thanks for having me!
“I bid you all a very fond farewell.”
For the past year or so, the Sisters of Mercy have made it possible for me to help the Faith Ecology Network organise, promote and run some excellent events to keep us all connected through COVID lockdowns and beyond.
We listened deeply to the voice of creation coming to us through birds, thanks to Andrew Skeoch. With the Affinity intercultural Foundation we Regenerated Wonder and the Will to Care. We heard the cry and the hope of the Barrier Reef through Gudju Gudju Fourmile, Myree Sam, and Jon Day. Most recently we explored ten ways that faith communities can protect biodiversity.
We regularly hosted over one hundred of you at these seminars and online workshops, building connections amongst the many faiths who share and cherish this one Earth.
We also updated out video collection of past events, and our one page summaries of the celebration of biodiversity from various faith perspectives.
I have really enjoyed my time with FEN, largely due to the excellent leadership of Anne Lanyon, and the warmth and commitment of the steering group which represents the different faiths in FEN.
We have just over five hundred members, and I would love to see that continue to expand into the thousands, so that both interfaith and science-faith dialogue continue to expand, and our various religions become ever more engaged with the insights of Australia’s First Nations people.
To that end I’d like to finish by imploring you to contribute to FEN’s fundraiser to create a part time coordinator position in 2022, and equally importantly, to encourage your faith community at whatever level you have access (local, state, national) to make a substantial contribution.
You can do this very securely easily with this direct link, or via FEN’s bank details:
Account Name: The Trustees of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan
BSB: 062172, Acc No: 903264, Reference: FEN Donation
Swift Code (outside of Australia) CTBAAU2S
You can email faithecology@gmail.com to ask for a receipt.
You can also help by forwarding our next event email on to anyone you think might find it interesting, or simply inviting them to join our email list.
Thanks again, I look forward to joining you all as a participant at the next FEN event.
