Come Enjoy Our Open House

It has come to my attention that our open house announcement which we thought was sent in November never went out, so we realize this is late, but we ask you to still consider stopping by our home at 712 W Merle Ave, Villa Park to enjoy some herb conversation, sample some herbal treats, especially our Jam “Surprise” Muffins and flavored shortbreads.

We will have materials from all our lines of products and the ability to make anything on demand, as well as items for making custom gift baskets on any theme you want.  So if you want the perfect gift for that hard to buy for friend or relative we will help you do that.

This year we are also going to feature our hand-made jewelry and beaded wind chimes.  So stop by any time Sunday December 11, 2016 11 am to 7 pm.

OUR home is located at 712 W Merle Ave, Villa Park, IL 60181.  We are just four blocks south of North Avenue off Westmore Ave.

Our Holiday Tea blend is only available this season.  Called Mint Merriment, we made this blend especially for a program at the Cress Creek Garden Club this year.  It contains apple mint for anti-inflammatory attributes and wonderful appley flavor, catnip to help with sleep and anxiety and rosehips for vitamin C, coughs, and inflammation control.  We will have this in Bags and Mini Tins at the open house.

This tea with a mug is part of our Deal of the Day program.  Between now and Dec 15 (the last first class mail day) we will have a special sale or coupon each day.  Check out the Blog for details.
We hope that you have a wonderful holiday season and look forward to seeing you in 2017.
In the coming year, I will be presenting two lectures at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier in March, as well as presenting on Organic Gardening during the Darien Garden Club Spring Garden Symposium March 4, 2017.
Here is a great holiday recipe to try in your home

Christmas Simmering Potpourri

You’ll find everything you need for this appealing blend at the grocery store or on your spice shelf, except for the essential oils. Even if you omit the oils, you’ll have a fragrant mixture whose scent holds up well after several refills of water.

• 1 cup 1-inch cinnamon sticks
• 1 cup whole allspice
• 2 cups star anise
• 1 cup coriander seed
• 2 cups dried orange peel
• 1/2 cup cloves
• 1/2 cup crushed nutmegs
• 10 drops cinnamon oil
• 10 drops allspice oil
• 20 drops sweet orange oil

Layer ingredients in a gallon jar. Add the oils to their corresponding ingredients as you go. Shake well and let age at least one day before using. Makes about 2 quarts.
If you do not want to make your own we are making this simmering potpourri for the winter season this year, you can order our Spiced Cider - Mulled Wine Blend which can be used the same way.  (We’ll be enjoying this at the open house also!)
