January the time for Hot Tea and Hot Soup

Here in Illinois winter seems to be mild and unsettled, but I know elsewhere Winter has been ferocious!  I think this is a great time to celebrate Hot Tea Month and to enjoy a few bowls of comforting soup. For our Newsletter Subscribers in January we have two sale coupons you can use in our Etsy Shop TEASALE11 will get you 20% off any tea or tea accessories, like tea balls, shortbread and scones. One last item - A Tea Blend to try -- 

Calm and Refresh Tea
Soothing, refreshing and full of flavor, this is the all-round feel-good tea.
2 cups boiling water
2 tsp lemon verbena
2 tsp lemon balm
4 tsp lavender flowers
Pour the boiling water over the herbs. Cover and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Strain and serve.

Vending from 10 AM to 3 PM all day at the show. I will have my booth filled with herb blends, teas, soup and scone mixes.

March 20 and 21, 2017 -  Chicago Flower and Garden Show

The Chicago Garden and Flower Show runs from March 18 to March 26, 2017 located at navy Pier.  I will be speaking on two different days.  On Tuesday March 21 at 3:30 PM I will be speaking on on the main stage my long verion of the Infusion Program including tinctures, vinegars, syrups and sugars.  Then on March 22 I will be speaking on Propagating and Preserving Herbs. I will have copies of the newest issue of The Essential Herbal Magazine available for purchase and I will sign my current article on DIY deodorant, if you want too.
Lectures this Winter

Te celebrate the end of Hot Tea Month we are presenting the program Tea 101 at Vernon Hills District 128 as part of the Adult Continuing Education.  The program runs from 7 to 9 PM and features a discussion of the various types of tea fromt eh tea plan Camellia sinensis, how to prepare and enjoy them with a sampling of various styles from white, to green, to black.
