"Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road?" Luke 24:32
Current assignment: Providing resources and training for Christian educators and leaders to impact the youth of Europe through Biblically integrated teaching and discipleship.

September 2018

Dear <<First Name>>,

This is a special edition celebrating 20 years of life and ministry in Europe. Paul arrived in Spain on August 16, 1998 to teach music at ECA. Ellie arrived in Spain on September 5, 1998 to help support her family in Ecuador. We were married in 2002 and then joined by our boys in 2006 and 2008. In 2012 we moved to Hungary to partner with ACSI and the work of national and international Christian schools across Europe as they inspire, train and disciple the next generation of leaders for Christ.

Thank you for sharing this journey of joy with us!!

We envision many more years of ministry together with you. But most importantly, we want to be available and useful for the building of God's Kingdom in the hearts and minds of young people.

Paul leads the ECA choir and band program in the Christmas concert, 1998.
A fun time with the older youth from the Spanish youth ministry at Paul's apartment in Madrid, 2000. (Notice Ellie next to Paul!)
Activities in our home to connect with people and build friendships happen often!
Occasional visits with our Spanish and Ecuadorian family and friends are always a blessing!
Paul helps to start the first Student Leadership Conference in Taiwan after working with the ACSI Europe SLC for 16 years.
Teachers are partners with us in the lives of our boys and in the lives of youth across Europe, especially when they love and serve Jesus!

Continued connections and ministry with ECA staff and dear friends, even over 20 years! (Picture taken at BFA, Germany, 2016.)

Friendships have eternal impact. We are very grateful for what God has done in our students and our own lives as we look back over 20 years of life in Europe!

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for the 20th year of the ACSI Europe Student Leadership conference taking place next week. On September 26 we welcome over 390 participants from 40 Christian schools to the event with a focus on "The Path of Leadership". Pray with us that they will join Jesus on this path, commit their way to Him and trust His guidance to serve and lead on a solid biblical foundation. Paul helps to lead this conference and is speaking in the opening session.
In October Paul travels to Kiev, Ukraine to lead a teacher training day on biblical integration in the classroom. In November Paul leads workshops at the Asia ICEC event in Kuala Lampur which will host about 800 teachers from international Christian schools in SE Asia.
Please pray for Silas and Timothy as they have many opportunities to influence others at school. Pray for Ellie with her responsibilities and interactions with students, parents and teachers each day.
Please pray for friendships and many opportunities to talk to, encourage and pray with people in our travels and activities. Pray that we will be humble, obedient and sensitive to God's Spirit even in the busyness of life.

We are so thankful for you and trust that you can also look back at the blessings of the last years. Thank you for your investment in us, your friendship and your prayers! Please let us know how we can pray for you. You can connect with us on our US phone, 1 239-234-4606 or by e-mail at madsen@journeyofjoy.org. Thank you!
