CAUSA: Centre/surround art exhibition
A new exhibition explores 'creative' artist's practice and 'purposeful' curatorial research. Ken Lum, artist and designer of the infamous "East Van" logo, and a former Vancouverite, says the exhibition looks at cross-cultural themes. CAUSA is on display until November 30 in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, in the level 2 foyer.

Celebrate 50 years of Woodward Library

Woodward Library’s collections cover a broad range of disciplines, including medicine, science, dentistry and forestry a – to name a few. Woodward has the largest biomedical collection in Western Canada, and is one of the most used branches on the Point Grey campus.
UBC Library is pleased to invite faculty, staff, current and former students, alumni and community members to a series of events celebrating Woodward Library, from November 17 – 21.

New app provides easy access to journals

UBC Library has recently launched a subscription to BrowZine, a downloadable app that allows you to browse and read Library scholarly journals from your Android and iOS devices.
Library users can use the app to browse journals by subject, add journals to personal bookshelves, receive notifications when new articles are published, and more!

Spelling Bee raises awareness for United Way

UBC Library and the United Way teamed up for the fifth annual Spelling Bee, which took place October 7 at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. 
The cross-campus team competition to raise awareness for the United Way featured words such as sesquipedalian and acetylsalicylic, with UBC Hive Minds conquering over 16 teams competing for glory.

Libraries, collaboration and the future

University Librarian Ingrid Parent recently traveled to New Zealand for the 2014 Library and Information Association of New Zealand conference where she gave a keynote presentation on the importance of library partnerships and community building. A video of the presentation is now available on YouTube

Celebrating small businesses

The Small Business Accelerator program recently launched a "Celebrate YOU!" campaign, which profiles the people who take SBA market research resources to transform their business idea from a concept to a reality. The first profile looks at mediAm digital distribution, inc, a Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD) distribution platform.
