Field Notes: The Art of Incorporating Nature

Linda Snouffer, Botanical Printmaker, reveals a kinship with the natural world as she uses actual plants alongside multiple layers of pigment-infused fabric, tissue and organza to create an ethereal dimension to her work. Grasslands in Central Minnesota inspired her prairie landscapes; strolls through nature preserves moved her to fashion woodlands; and her awe of natural waterways led to seascapes and shorelines. Snouffer’s
artworks, with their textural qualities, give the viewer a transformative experience and beg the question; How did she do that?
