Gifts for Your Giving!

WARM is proud to come to the end of another successful year of celebrating, supporting, exhibiting and promoting feminist art; offering opportunities for creatives to come together and share their voice in many art forms; and sustaining a vital arts community built on shared learning, mutual support, and collaborative leadership!

WARM’s members make all of this happen with their annual dues and generous donations - Thank you members!

Your year end gift to WARM ensures that the power of feminist art continues to be vibrant, influential, and visible - And that WARM is here for feminist artists far into the future.

As an extra gift to all who donate $100 or more before 2019, we will be holding a drawing for a $50 Wet Paint Gift card and a free copy of WARM’s new Commemorative Poster, hot off the presses!

Support the work of a volunteer-run arts non-profit that empowers and supports all feminist artists by honoring the legacy of the past and by building a viable future. Happy New Year!

The Region 2 Arts Council is excited to announce the recipients of the 2018-2019 Artist Fellowship, awarded to Bemidji-based painter Paula J. Swenson

After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Paula Swenson struggled to find her own artistic voice. It took her many years, many workshops and many teachers. Around 1991 Swenson found her way to the Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota. There she found support and fellowship and discovered not how to paint but how she paints. After finding a subject, Swenson researches that subject, gathers resource materials and meditates on what it all means. By using symbols and colors and shapes Swenson tells stories or portrays a landscape all the while being mindful of unintended “happy accidents”. Stars turn into birds, trees into creatures, moons into fishing holes. Swenson calls her style Surrealistic for lack of a better term. In Swenson’s words “Mostly I want my paintings to make people happy, including me.”
