Warm Spring 5 
The Warm New Member Show


 
New members! If you joined WARM after June 1st, 2017, you are invited to be part of WARM's 5th Annual New Member Show, WARM Spring 5, in partnership with The Show Gallery - Lowertown.

Warm Spring 5 will feature the creative works - 2 and 3D art, installation, film, writing, spoken word, music, textile, book arts, performance, and multimedia - of WARM’s newest members!

Watch for an email that will go out to all new members later in May with all the details, as well as dates for installation and exhibition events. There is no cost (except a little time spent at the gallery) and all participants will have the opportunity to offer an artist talk or presentation.

We just received news that WARM Spring 5 will be mentioned in the June issue of Mpls/St. Paul magazine! Anyone who joins WARM before June 1st will receive an invitation to participate and have their work seen in the beautiful Show Gallery - Lowertown gallery this summer - So spread the word!

Barbara Bridges Art-A-Whirl Workshop

Barbara has been a teacher for over 40 years and creates social practice art from fabricated components in a variety of media and rescued "power objects"She manipulates the objects to create meaning, provoke discussions, and reflect on a wide variety of social topics.

Visit her studio Sunday, May 20th and make art with her and other members of Art to Change the World. Bring a memory object to your own (optional) or make a Wranklet (can be both an ankle or wrist bracelet). All ages. Registration appreciated but not required. There will also be a hot dish after party for all starting at 5 pm. She will be serving her famous Elote Mexican corn in the Firepit. To register or RSVP click here.

 

 

Annual Supporters Showcase - Call for Art

              June 3rd - July 28th, 2018
          
 

This exhibition is our Annual Supporter Showcase and combined invitational art exhibition featuring the work of our supporters along with work by David Grimsrud, Matt Krousey, Lisa Kundrat, Robert Lundgren, Cynthia Starkweather-Nelson, and Jason Trebs. The exhibit will include works in a variety of media inspired by the exquisite, ever changing art of Mother Nature.

Supporters of Art Works Eagan are invited to submit their work for consideration in this exhibition for a small fee. More information can be found here.

WARM Notices

On Location Drawing Group

Location:
              Prospect Park
              Minneapolis, MN 55414

              May 26th, 2018, Noon to 2 pm
 

 

In May On Location Drawing Co-op will be heading over to Prospect Park. We will meet up at the Textile Center at noon and walk up to the park as a group. Afterwards we will hit up a restaurant in the area for a bite to eat.

On Location Drawing Co-op is free and open to all that want to come and be part of the camaraderies. I hope you can come join us.

 Over the years interest in a 2 year program has changed, as such, there will be no 2018 - 19 program. Watch future newsletters for updates.

  • Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council's Monthly e-Guide: The May 2018 Edition.
  • Northstar Watermedia Society  presents the 2018 Northstar National Watermedia Juried Exhibition open to all watermedia on various types of surface. Submission dates and details can be found here.
  • Artist and Crafter Call: June Bug Art Crawl Sponsered by COPA (Corcoran Powderhorn Artists) June 16th, 2018 from 10 - 4 pm. $35 membership fee.
  • Call for Artists - Riverfront Fine Arts Festival September 8th and 9th, 2018. Deadline for online submissions is May 31st. For details visit the Festival web page.
  • Lanesboro Artist Residency Program - emerging artists of any discipline living in Minnesota or one of the five boroughs of New York City are invited to apply. Applications are due at 12 pm on Friday, June 29th, 2018.
  •  MN State Fair Art - Entry online April 2 - July 9, 2018.
        Calls & Opportunities still open from last month:
  • Call for Artists: The Lindstrom Project is now accepting entries.  This exhibit will open on June 21st and is for artwork inspired by the City of Lindstrom, MN! This call is open for artists in all mediums.  
  • Grant Marais Arts Colony is now accepting applications for its Artist in Residency Program. Providing artists with independent work space in professional studios amidst the backdrop of a stunning landscape. View details here.

  • 23rd Annual Art-A-Whirl - May 18th - 20th, 2018
  • Platonic Dualities recent work by artists Kim Mathews and Susan Hensel, opens at Gallery 5004, Robbinsdale, MN Friday, May 11 with Opening Reception 6 - 9 pm.
  • MN Access Alliance presents Building Institutional Buy-in to Accessibility - Thursday, May 10th, 2018, from 3:30 to 5 pm at the Rondo Public Library Register here.
  • St. Louis Park Unity Sing - Tuesday, May 22, 6 - 8 pm, the ROC. Singers and music lovers from all around the community come together to sing in celebration of our community's diversity and unity.  This is a free and family event.
WARM Newsletter Submission Guidelines
Please submit your content for the WARM Wednesday newsletter by using the submission form on the WARM website. The next deadline for submission is Sunday, June 10th for items to be published in the June 13th Newsletter. There is only ONE newsletter published per month, so please plan accordingly. Thanks!

Members may submit one item per newsletter. If you have multiple items or a lengthy description, you may submit a single item with summaries and links to postings elsewhere. Non-members may send items to news@thewarm.org for consideration.
