Open Call to WARM Members Past and Present for Inclusion in a Digital Slideshow

You are invited to participate in a digital presentation accompanying the exhibition,
Roots & Fruits: Exploring the History and Impact of the Women’s Art Registry of Minnesota. Curated by Heather Carroll, this exhibition will be on view November 3rd - December 15th, 2018 at The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery at St. Catherine University.

This exhibition will utilize both wings of the gallery. The Roots side focuses on the beginnings and very early years of the registry (also known as WARM), the women involved in forming and naming the organization, as well as its outreach, exhibitions and programs. Fruits traces the registry’s threads of influence, including the Arts Core Program for Women at St. Catherine University, the Women’s Art Institute and the newest iteration of WARM: Women’s Art Resources of Minnesota. The spirit, community and social justice ideals of WARM have grown beyond the organization and continue to thrive in Minnesota’s arts community.

Since it would be impossible to include work by all of the women connected with WARM’s registry, membership and gallery in one exhibition, we plan to include a digital component in the exhibition that recognizes both the history and ongoing evolution of the organization. This will be a digital slide presentation of names, artwork images, and artist statements, and we’d like to invite all WARM members -- any type of member, past or present -- to submit these items for inclusion in this portion of the show. This digital component honors the inclusive spirit of WARM and gives us an opportunity to demonstrate the incredible impact WARM has had in supporting the careers of women artists throughout the state. Our hope is that this digital “registry” of the registry will continue to be shared online after the exhibition. In order to achieve this digital component, we offer an open call to all WARM artists to submit their materials.

Members interested in participating may fill out and submit the attached form with an artwork image. Forms and images should be submitted by email to Nicole Watson, director of The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery: Questions can also be directed Nicole at this address or by phone: 651-690-6637.

All submissions for inclusion in the exhibition presentation are due by September 15, 2018. Click here for the submission form and more information.
