This month we're bringing you a bumper crop of plays and theatre books, starting with Andy Nyman's More Golden Rules of Acting, a follow-up to his bestselling book for actors. J.J. Abrams has called it 'wise and entertaining'; Glenn Close said it's filled 'with great humour, wisdom and panache' – it's a must-read for actors at any stage of their career.

We publish the new book by world-renowned director Peter Brook, Playing by Ear: Reflections on Sound and Music, together with the first-ever ebook edition of his seminal The Empty Space, and an audiobook version of The Quality of Mercy, read by leading actor Michael Pennington. There's also the chance to meet the man in person, with two author events in London this month, details below.

For any actors wanting to work on film or television, check out Michael Bray's new book, So You Want To Act On Screen?, an essential handbook from a leading teacher of screen acting, packed with practical exercises so you can hone your technique.

Plus, loads of amazing new plays, from Annie Baker's The Antipodes at the National Theatre, Mike Bartlett's adaptation of Gorky at the Almeida, and Danusia Samal's International Playwriting Award-winning Out of Sorts at Theatre503, to Zia Ahmed's I Wanna Be Yours, Arinzé Kene's Little Baby Jesus, and the debut play from comedian David Baddiel.
