A Weekend of Family Races
The UT has a list of fun Family Races this weekend. With the weather being perfect this is a great time to get out an enjoy the sunshine!
WACKY WONKY WALK AND KIDS FESTIVAL
This 1-mile walk takes participants through a Willy Wonka-themed obstacle course that includes life-size lollipops, costumes and a candy wall. A festival follows with chocolaty games, bounce houses, community dance performances, food and more.
What it benefits: The San Diego Center for Children, a nonprofit that provides behavioral, educational and social services for local children.
Details: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Waterfront Park at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, Embarcadero. $15 or free for children age 3 and younger. Register.
SURFING MADONNA RUN
A uniquely Encinitas race that happens on the sand at Moonlight Beach during low tide. You can pick between a 5K and 10K course, and there’s also a 1K run for kids age 12 and younger. The event features a costume contest, a post-run yoga cool down and a beach festival with live music, surf and volleyball tournaments and more from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
What it benefits: Clean-water and recycling programs throughout the Encinitas community.
