Thank you for Supporting Community Cycles

2020 was a wild ride. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported our year-end campaign: We more than met our goal! We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you for helping us start 2021 strong, and ready to build a better Boulder for bicycles and bicyclists.

Winter Bike to Work Day is February 12

Save the date and join the fun! Celebrate with all of us at Community Cycles on Boulder's 12th annual Winter Walk and Bike to Work Day, Friday, February 12, 2021.

February 12 is also International Bike to Work Day! Commit to a bike ride on February 12, even if you work from home. It’s all about getting out on your bike for a spin around town for your health, fresh air and reducing that carbon footprint a bit.

Please share our Facebook event to help spread the word about Winter Bike to Work Day. Unfortunately, there will not be the usual breakfast extravaganza due to Boulder County COVID restrictions.

Community Cycles Bicycle Scavenger Hunt

As part of Winter Bike to Work Day, join our self-guided Scavenger Hunt and win great prizes!  The Scavenger Hunt is open until Feb 20th.

Bicycle Film Festival: Feb 12 through 21

As part of Winter Bike to Work Day, the Bicycle Film Festival is coming (virtually) to Boulder. This selection of short films will appeal to a wide audience, from film connoisseurs to avid cyclists and everything in between. Please join us!

Streaming begins at 6 p.m. on February 12 and can be viewed anytime or multiple times until the end of the day, February 21. A portion of sales benefit Community Cycles.

Support the 2021 Kids’ Holiday Bike Giveaway: Raffle for a Priority Bicycle 600x

Our good friends at the Kirk “Rocky” Derichsweiler Foundation; Ryan Van Duzer, endless adventurer by bicycle; and our friends Dana, Xanthe and everyone at Walnut Cafe have always helped us get bikes to kids. We think every child should have the joy of riding a bicycle, and our annual Kids’ Holiday Bike Giveaway gets bikes to low-income children and families who otherwise would not be able to have a bicycle.

Here's the link to their fundraiser to support this cause.  Raffle tickets are available until January 30.  Learn more hereCheck out the bicycle being raffled. And learn more about the Kirk “Rocky” Derichsweiler Foundation. Have fun, good luck, and thank you Ryan and Dana!

Ride on!

New Funding Brings Protected Bike Lanes to 30th Street

A “Safer Main Streets” program funded by CDOT and DRCOG will fund numerous transportation projects in the cities of Boulder, Longmont, Erie, Nederland, Superior, Broomfield and Boulder County, including protected bike lanes on 30th St. While more funding is still needed to complete the entire 30th Street project, this is a great start and fast tracks the 30th St. improvements - a project Community Cycles has been working on with the city for a number of years.

Winter in the Bike Shop: COVID Edition

We will continue to hold retail sales outdoors as long as weather permits. We are allowing customers into our shop, but we can only have 10 people in our shop at a time. We have three large industrial HEPA-13 air purifiers to increase our indoor air exchange to recommended levels.

Please be patient if you have to wait and remember we are all trying to stay healthy. Please think of others’ safety and health when spending time inside the shop.

It is still required to maintain social distance and wear masks.

**Cycling Tips** Winterize Your Bike

Fenders or crud catchers are a great thing to buy used. The Community Cycles shop has plenty of them, new and used.

Visit our shop for studded snow tires and other winter gear.  We can also special-order winter gear for you and your bicycle.

Members: be sure to ask about your discount on special orders!

Bikes for Sale

We have tandems GALORE and even a few cargo bikes for sale at our shop. We also have flat-bar road bikes that let you enjoy the speed of a road bike with the comfort of a hybrid, one of a quickly growing field of All-Terrain Bikes (ATBs).

On our website, see a selection of higher-end refurbished bikes for sale. Send an email to if you would like to see one of these bikes as it may be offsite. We always have used bikes for sale. Stop by during open hours and see if we have the right bike for you.

Follow us on Instagram for fun photos of the latest and greatest bicycles that we have refurbished, repaired and restored for your fun, pleasure and next great ride.

Bicycle Donations

Donations are accepted Thursday-Sunday 12 - 4 p.m. Be mindful that Community Cycles is in a residential neighborhood and unattended donations attract crime. Please drop off bicycles for donation only when we are open. Thank you!
