Kids’ Holiday Bike Giveaway and Colorado Gives Day

Nothing is better than getting your first bike, except perhaps making this dream come true for low-income kids and families. Help us get ready for the 15th Annual Kids’ Holiday Bike Giveaway.

Please donate today to support one of our favorite events. With the economic downturn, much of our program funding has been cut. Your help in supporting this important program will make a difference in many children’s lives.

Every year since 2008, Community Cycles has been gifting bicycles to low-income kids and families in our community. This year due to COVID, we will be holding the event over three consecutive weekends to comply with county rules.

Sponsor a child, create a Happy Holiday for a family, or gift a bike and helmets for a whole neighborhood! Thank you for supporting this important work in a year when low-income families in Boulder are struggling even more.

Colorado Gives Day is Dec. 8  Schedule your donation now!

On Tuesday, December 8, we will celebrate Colorado Gives Day, an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado. Donations are accepted through Schedule your donations today. 2020 has been a particularly difficult year for us where many of our funding sources have dried up or been diverted elsewhere. Please help donate today so we can continue to serve the community.

Keep riding!

Reminder: Let your Voice be Heard on Vision Zero Innovation Projects

Boulder is installing innovative quick-build improvements, including curb extensions, traffic calming and crossing treatments, to enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety and comfort. Three Aurora curb extensions are installed near High Peaks Elementary. Upcoming installations include Community Cycles’ curb extensions this month with art added in spring, hardened centerlines and a pedestrian island on Grinnell by end of the year, plus a speed kidney (see below) on Cherry Street in the spring.

Winter in the Bike Shop: COVID Edition

We plan to continue outdoor retail sales as long as weather permits, moving indoors in bad weather. We will also try to keep our same hours, but please check our website, Facebook page and Twitter for our latest hours before you head over.

We have already started admitting customers and volunteers inside, though we are limited to a maximum occupancy of 13 people. Please be patient and think of others when spending time inside of the shop area. We have worked with our HVAC contractor and have also purchased three large industrial HEPA-13 air purifiers to get our indoor air exchange to recommended levels. It will still be very important to limit the number of people in the building, maintain social distance and wear masks (masks are preferred over neck gaiters).

Gift Cards
We have gift cards for sale, perfect for any occasion--especially the holidays!  Order online and we’ll mail it out.

Bikes for Sale

We have a variety of flat-bar road bikes, ATB/mountain bikes and even a few cargo bikes for sale at our shop. Come check out bikes in person during open hours to shop a full inventory. We’ve devoted a section of our website for used bikes or follow us on Instagram for fun photos of the latest.

Bicycle Donations

Donations are accepted Thursday-Sunday 12 - 4 p.m. Be mindful that Community Cycles is in a residential neighborhood and unattended donations attract crime. Please drop off bicycles for donation only when we are open. Thank you!
