A Big Win for Community Cycles, Electric Bicycles and Essential Workers!

We are excited to announce that Community Cycles is one of six organizations statewide who received a grant from the Colorado Energy Office to launch a pilot program that will provide electric bicycles to frontline, essential workers in our community.

“Electric bicycles are a game-changer,” explained Sue Prant, Executive Director.  “We have seen how electric bicycles (eBikes) help people easily commute by bicycle over longer distances and hilly terrain. And we know that cars are expensive to own and maintain. Bringing eBikes to our low-income essential workers -- our friends and neighbors -- will help them and their families succeed economically, and will let them be part of the movement in our community for cleaner air and low-carbon transportation.”

With partners including Small Planet eBikes, the University of Colorado, Boulder Community Health, Boulder County Housing and Human Services, Boulder County Sustainability Office, Boulder Bike Sharing, Boulder Housing Partners and People for Bikes, Community Cycles will get eBikes to 100 low-income essential workers.

Sandee Cirian, Project Manager, shared her perspective on the project. “We hope this project’s success will open the door to many more projects like this, and to additional funding. Electric bicycles have the potential to create the kind of transportation transformation we all want to see, and will bring us cleaner air, a healthier climate and a more equitable community.”

Our Community DIY Bike Shop is Re-opening!

After closing down in December due to COVID restrictions, our DIY bike shop for members has re-opened! In April, DIY will only be open on Sundays, but we plan to add more days if all goes well and we can operate safely. DIY has some new rules moving forward: THERE WILL BE NO WALK-UPs. You must register in advance to reserve a time slot. Register here. Learn more about DIY here.

Ride on!

Please Don’t Park Your Motor Vehicle in the CC Parking Lot

Our next door neighbors are getting very angry about customers and members parking in their spots and have begun issuing fines to Community Cycles. Please park on the street. There are many free street parking spaces available.

April Kids’ Bike Giveaway: 300+ Happy Kids (and Parents!)

From the small to the tall, we gave away 300+ kids bikes over two weekends this month. Our goal was to get kids on bikes in time for Boulder Valley School District's Bike to School Day, which is April 22.

Special thanks to Boulder Community Health for helmets!

Community Cycles is Hiring a Development Director

Sadly after 8 years, our Development Director Jennifer Shriver is moving on to new challenges. We thank Jennifer for all her hard work over the years. Jennifer has been instrumental in getting Community Cycles to where we are now and has done so much for the organization over the years - especially leading our Capital Campaign for our new building! We’ll miss her but we’ll still see her at events and she will be working limited hours during the summer as we transition. But that means we are looking for a new Development Director. We are especially looking for someone with successful experience raising money face to face from individuals and corporations. Interested? Read more about the position.
