After the economic turmoil of the last few years it's good to see great employers who are riding the wave and staying upright!  Research by Aon Hewitt found that its 2012 best employers earn on average 9% more profit per employee and double the revenue growth of other organisations.  How do they do this?  Through a focus on developing a positive work environment that includes creating a culture where employees look forward to coming to work.  The top five factors to win over staff included: set clear expectations, communicate well, shared company values and a common purpose, rewards and recognition and finally, promote from within. 

Holding these factors front and centre as you go about your strategic planning, asking yourself 'how do we stack up against these criteria?' and 'what do we need to do differently around our people capability ?' will provide a platform for shifts in your people strategy.  If you don't have the performance measures in place to benchmark yourself against that's  your starting point.

In this edition of Shin(e)-news we look at how to deal with difficult people; the importance of understanding when you need to change course and cross-cultural communication.
