LCC Update

Issue 10

A Note from Dan, Lead Pastor

LCC Church Family,

Hope you are enjoying the late summer. :)

Last month we invited God to ready us for an adventure and we set off. Adventum (which is Latin for adventure and arrival) was born out of a desire for our body of believers to reignite life with Jesus and find our place in God’s great story. Our time on this earth is short. We want to make every moment count. For the last month, we’ve been readying our heart with Him - responding to His call for brokenness, surrender, and dependence - building a foundation on Jesus that will last through the storms that come (Matthew 7:24-27). And now we move onto our readying our witness. What does it mean to move towards His plans and purposes for this world? What does it look like to go beyond doing for Him - to finding joy in partnering with God and other believers to bring LIFE to this world. Jesus said to His followers, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work” (John 4:34).

This Sunday, I’m excited to share more about how to live for this other kind of food. God has put you in a unique position to accomplish His work. The thrill is in discovering it and living it out.

Come join with others this Saturday, October 5 (Men’s breakfast) or October 12 (Women’s Breakfast) as we encourage each other along in accomplishing His work.

In Christ,

This Saturday, October 5, LCC's Rob Mitchell will be sharing during the Men's Breakfast. Enjoy bacon, pancakes and other delicious breakfasts foods while hanging out together.

Next Saturday, October 12, we'll hear from a number of LCC women and have time to spend together. If you're wanting to help out by bringing food or setting up/cleaning up, please find info here. We're praying all our women will be able to attend. If childcare is an issue, we have a few of the LCC men who have offered to be on hand to hang out with kiddos. Let us know if you need childcare.

Mens' Breakfast - Saturday, October 5, 8:30-10 a.m.
Women's Breakfast - October 12, 8:30-10 a.m.

We believe God uses community to transform lives. He speaks through His Word and His people. Come and be part of a small community during the week. Get help and support in beginning a group of your own.

"Stuff We Like"
What some of the staff at Life Community Church have recently been listening to, reading, watching and otherwise enjoying:

Dan Burmeister, Lead Pastor - Lara and Dan have been watching Country Music: A Film by Ken Burns (on PBS). Also, Dan has been re-reading Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Peter Scazzero. And Adventum, of course!
Tom Burns, Teaching Pastor - The documentary Three Identical Strangers.
J.R. Kennedy, NextGen Pastor - A podcast called “That Sounds Fun” by Annie F. Downs. Specifically the series called EnneaSummer 2019 from June/July. Then there’s good ol’ Phyllis Tickle’s “Divine Hours” book that has been a steady companion this summer in spending time and rhythms with Jesus.
Leigh Zeidner, Communications and Creative Arts Director - All things fall. Making things with leaves, especially these woodland crowns and experimenting with making watercolors from nature.
Bruce Truxall, Facilities Coordinator - Adventum, of course! Engrossed in the new Ken Burns documentary on ... country music! A bit surprising, not being a country music fan. But loving history and documentaries, and Ken Burns has never made a bad one. Highly recommended.
Gabi Taylor, Youth Ministries Resident A Series of Unfortunate Events (thanks, Sophie Burns for bringing her back to it!). Hikes in her parents’ woods with them and her 5-year-old buddy, Sully.

Are you ready to take this next step of faith? To declare publicly that you belong to Jesus? We'll have info meetings on October 13 and 20, but you can sign up and ask any questions you have ahead of time. Let us know you want to be baptized here:
I Want to be Baptized

Come and meet Pastor Marvin, our kids and the people of our sister church in the Summer of 2020. We'll be leading Vacation Bible School and building swingsets. Find out more about how you can be part of it all THIS SUNDAY following service. Bring your Adventum books if you're the type who likes to earn stamps - this will be an action step.
