Environmental Action Gathers Pace

On 16th May Petroc held a Communities Living Sustainably event that marked the culmination of two weeks of discussion and debate across the Biosphere.  Over 200 people from Biosphere communities in Bideford, Barnstable, Ilfracombe and Winkleigh have come together to consider what it would take to help to make more local food available to everyone and for communities and households to have more ownership of energy and water supplies and more knowledge about how to save energy and water. The results from these events will be used in an application to the Big Lottery fund for up to £1million.  More

Local trails on national website

A number of access routes within the Biosphere have been entered onto the UK-wide Phototrails website. Each trail is described via a photo slideshow providing information that lets the user see exactly what the terrain and trail furniture such as gates is like. This is fantastic for people with mobility difficulties who can decide whether the trail is suitable for them before they visit. Information on four of the Phototrails routes has also been produced in leaflet form, each colour coded so that you can choose a walk suited to your ability.  Find out more.
