Biosphere 2014-15 Annual Report
In 2014-15 Biosphere projects brought an area of grassland and woodland equivalent to 2760 Wembley football pitches into positive, wildlife friendly management. Discover some of our other highlights in our new Annual Report.

Community Energy Toolkit

A free, legal toolkit for community energy projects has been published online by the Devon County Council Environment Group. The toolkit describes the process for a community to come together to develop and own a local, renewable energy scheme. At key stages of the process the toolkit advises which legal agreements are necessary and provides adaptable templates for these.
The toolkit can be downloaded from the County Council’s website.


Devon's Hedges

Following the recent judging of the Devon Hedge Competition, two prizes were awarded for hedge laying in the Biosphere Reserve.  Barry Harland Froud won the Best Laid Hedge in the Novice Class, having been taught two years ago on a Biosphere Reserve/Devon Wildlife Trust Course. Kevin Harris won second prize in the Best Laid Hedge Open Class for his work near Parracombe.  More


Out & About

The Biosphere Team will be present at both the Woolsery Show on  27th July and the North Devon Show on 5th August.  At both events we will be promoting the various environmental grants that are available to farmers at the moment including: Do come along to our stands and find out more about these exciting projects.

Glowing, glowing, gone..

Can you help us survey glow worm distribution?  If you are outside at night this summer in July and August you might see the eerie green glow of one of the countryside’s most charismatic creatures; the glow worm.  Find out more.
