Winter Solstice

Thanks to the nearly 800 people who attended our Winter Solstice Festival this year. And a special thanks to the volunteers, presenters, musicians, stallholders and raffle prize donors who made it such a dynamic event.

See you all next year!
Organic Farmers' Market

We have several new healers and therapist scattered throughout the farm: bowen therapy, chinese cupping, niagra therapy, massage, naturopaths, eyebrow threading, henna tattoo, chiropractors and zenthai shaitsu with the lovely Donna. They may come at different times throughout the month so check in regularly!
Our farmers are bringing in the most amazing greens. There is kale galore every week- its time to eat this superfood while it is at its peak. Sweet potatoes are at their best too.
It is lovely to welcome Nutrifruit to the market for the strawberry season. Have you tried their? I don’t think I have had such a flavoursome strawberry since picking them from my grandfather’s garden.
And lastly, we have been so lucky to attract some really interesting buskers at the market. There are instruments that I haven’t even seen before being played with such still. Every week seems to be different- lucky us. Make sure you check in with our instagram, twitter and Facebook pages for weekly updates and news from the market.
City Farm Nursery
Nursery volunteers and staff were kept busy preparing for Winter Solstice Celebrations. The whole Farm pulled out all the stops, in order to be a welcoming place for the community. Gardens were spruced, paths were laid, trees were pruned and plucked.
Thanks to everyone's hard work, the nursery looked especially picturesque. The displays overflowed with fruit trees, flowers and herbs. The nursery was draped in sparkling fairy lights, candle lit lanterns and tinkling fountains were tucked in cosy corners. The atmosphere was magical. On the night the nursery was visited by capering winter elves, and garden sprites carrying colourful lantern creations. It was a perfect evening. The temperature stayed mild, the chai was warm and spicy, and music enveloped the farm.
The nursery staff wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly in the weeks preceding Winter Solstice and on the day itself. We’d also like to thank Claire Bickle for making herself available in the nursery, dispensing gardening advice during the Solstice Festival.
