AROUND THE FARM
Thank you everyone for helping us create another lovely Winter Solstice Festival. We had a sell out crowd and the vibe and community connection was lovely all day and night. A big thank you to all the staff, volunteers, performers, presenters, stallholders and attendees who weaved their magic for the festival. Can't wait to have you all back again next year.
PLASTIC FREE JULY
In the month of July, we commit to being Plastic Free! At Northey Street City Farm Organic Farmers Market you can meet your local organic farmers directly and purchase fresh produce without plastic. Please bring your own shopping bags/baskets, keeper cups and veggie bags to take your produce home in. Wandering Man Expresso give a 50 cent discount if you bring your own cup! You can also buy veggie bags and tote bags from the City Farm Nursery.
July is also a great time to commit to a permanent plastic free change. Consider not using plastic bin liners, stop using plastic straws, buy your cheese from the markets by the slice with no plastic, swap to loose leaf tea instead of tea bags. Whatever it is, make a long term commitment to stop using single use plastics this year. If you make a change this month we would love to hear from you! Tag us on instagram or send your pics to email@example.com and we can share the love, as committing to going plastic free shows a love of the earth!

Groups and school tours are always a delight to host at the Farm. Our ‘Biomes and Food Security’ activity is popular with Year 9 Geography classes, as we are able to demonstrate how permaculture can contribute to food security here and around the world. Primary school groups tend to choose our ‘Farm Life’ activity, in which they get to feed the chickens, hold a worm, taste some bush tucker and contribute to making compost.
