Workshop 1: Thursday 12 August
Put on your hard hats and let’s go
build something incredible!
Inspired by the gigantic ‘Tipping Point’ sculpture
by John Merrill, to be found outside in our grounds,
why not come along and join the sculptor himself
(and co-artist Ticky) and have a go at making your
very own master piece – which can be as little
or as big as you like.
John & Ticky will be on hand to show you
the ropes with some tips on how to build and fix things
together using John’s off-cuts of wood from the workshop
(plus a few other everyday materials).
Workshop 2: Thursday 19 August
Hair-raising clay birds
Inspired by Liz Ellis’ current exhibition
‘…from a dark place’ you will discover treasure hunting
magpies, vigilant cormorants, crawking crows, gossiping jackdaws
and wise, watchful owls along with the dark tales they uncover,
crossing between real and imagined worlds, times and stories.
Come and join ceramicist Ceri Wright as she reveals
the magic (techniques) for how to create your very own dark
and mythical creature in clay. To finish you’ll mount your
bird/creature clay piece on to drift wood or stone.
