If you are seeing friends or family over the next week I highly recommend you play a board game together. Codenames and Telestrations are two really fun games for groups that are quick to play and good for all ages and abilities. I'm talking young kids to grandparents. You might get some resistance from people at first, but just find the few people who want to play, sit down, and more will follow. Kind of a "build it and they will come" sorta thing. (These are available at big box stores so you can grab them last minute.)
If you are looking for a new book to read over the holiday break, I strongly recommend Small Fry by Lisa Brennan-Jobs. If that name sounds familiar, she is the daughter Steve Jobs initially denied paternity of. It offers a fascinating look at growing up the daughter of a famous billionaire. Heartbreaking and exquisitely written.
