Hello, Co-op friends and fans!
Wow, spring sure is exciting, isn't it? Y'all went seriously bananas for our local plant starters and herbs last week! We sold out in like 24 hours. We're ordering a TON more from Farmer Pam at Calvert Farms to come in on Thursday. On order are new items like sage, thyme, oregano, more kinds of basil, some butterfly plants, onions, tomatoes, and a bunch of other vegetables, too!
We are also excited to make another great local connection with Castle Bridge Farms out of Ellicott City, our new flower grower! Kim and her family are growing beautiful flowers and will deliver them each week to grow our already swell floral section. These should be in Wednesday, and it's tulip season so expect some real beauties. We're going to have some really nice plants and flowers leading up to Mother's Day on May 9. DON'T FORGET MOM! Mother's Day cards are in and we'll have an end cap starting in the coming week for Mom's pampering supplies: bubble bath, chocolate, and more. Look for that, too.
Folks really loved our first meat flash sale, so Victor is back again with another incredible sale! Friday and Saturday April 23-24, get Beef Chuck Short Ribs for just $5.89/lb. You save more than 2 bucks a pound on this great item! You may be a pit master already, but if you aren't try this simple BBQ recipe, Easy BBQ Short Ribs Recipe | Sunny Anderson | Food Network
. It takes just 10 minutes of prep and some low and slow time in your oven! Flash sales are IN-STORE ONLY and available only on the advertised days while supplies last.
Curbside pickup anniversary
It's been a year since we launched curbside pick-up at the Co-op and during that time our friendly in-store shoppers have fulfilled over 4,000 orders! So many of you have told me how much you appreciated the service during the pandemic and I am proud and pleased to have been able for the Co-op to offer it to you. Several of our consistent curbside customers have now been vaccinated and are coming in the store regularly (which we love), but we do want everyone to know that we are still offering curbside pickup and it's a wonderful convenient service for folks who are busy or can't, or don't want to shop in the store for whatever reason. We offer late pickup all the way to 7 pm, if you need it. And we still are offering beer and wine for curbside, just bring your ID!
Update on the vaccine at Co-op
The CDC/FDA and the Maryland Department of Health have directed all Maryland COVID-19 vaccine providers to pause the administration of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines until further federal guidance is issued. Issues with this vaccination are so few, we are awaiting word when we can begin to get our fellow Greenbelters vaccinated again at Co-op. Hopefully soon.
