MTJ to Present at TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, DC

"Design Optimization for Safety and Operations of Multi-Lane Roundabouts"

Mark Johnson, P.E., MTJ Roundabout Engineering, will present his timely paper, “Design Optimization for Safety and Operations of Multi-Lane Roundabouts,” at the 2016 TRB Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The poster session, “Diversity of Roundabouts"(Event 789) will be Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, 8:30-10:15 AM, in the Convention Center, Hall E; Poster Location Code: K184.

Multi-lane high flow roundabouts introduce increased complexity from a driver comprehension perspective and many multi-lane roundabouts are experiencing higher than anticipated minor crashes. An understanding of roundabout design principles and traffic planning and visual information is necessary to ensure optimal safety performance.

This paper/poster provides an overview of the design principles and elements to achieve optimal safety for high flow roundabout design. Please read the full paper here. The poster is available here.

We look forward to seeing you Wednesday at the poster session.
